doing one myself

u can get the xs kit which isnt the whole kit, and the welds suck big time. its gonna be cheaper in the long run to get a custom manifold made and piece the rest together.

its gonna have to be a custom job.

actually I was just talking about this to a tech I just met with, and is doing my 105k. He does a lot of custom work and started asking me if there would be a market for a twin turbo set up for our cars

^not worth it. one turbo (good turbo) is more than enough for a stock block. twin turbo would just create lag and room would be a HUGE problem (i know, one turbo barely fits)

not worth it. im sure you would get alot of people saying they want it but when it comes time to put down cash for it alot of people would bail.

Haha, Ive seen a turbo Insight before. Pretty cool, but the power gains just isnt worth it I think.

Theres a company in Tampa, FL that swaps K20s into Insights. They run low 12s in stock form and with proper tuning they can still get 40-50mpg.

Not bad for a "hybrid".

If I can find an Insight in good condition Id do the swap. You can keep A/C and power steering. Its the ultimate sleeper in my book. Its mostly aluminum and I believe they weigh in at around 1800lbs stock.

There was a remote mount kit posted by some tuning company that specializes in them the name of the company started with a c i think. If you don't know what I mean by remote mount it just means the turbo is mounted after the downpipe instead of in the engine bay. The most popular kits like this are made for the C6 vettes by STS if you want to get a better idea of what I mean. Some people claim that there would be lag because of the excess piping but you also have to realize its going to be cooler denser air because you eliminate heat from the engine bay so any lag would be very minimal. Power gains with a turbo on our car are very impressive some members have made 350+hp at the wheels!!!! Nothing compared to the C6 vettes with 800+ but thats a whole other story. Check it out on SPEED its on an episode of Super Cars Exposed

Hey. So what out of this kit can you use?? Can you use the piping? Oil return lines?? Intercooler (That looks like its from a civic)?? Can you even use the Blow off valve??

I'm trying to price doing my setup. I understand that the kit is not great- I'm getting a different turbo, gauges, wastegate. I was hoping i could at least use the manifold and Blow off Valve and Piping. I would get somewhere to re-weld the manifold. I have a 6 gen V6 accord btw so i would only have to re-weld the manifold and not alter it.

You would have to replace some parts off of this kit with some real parts and check the welds.

not sure how fitment is there used to be a xs turbo kit on ebay but I haven't seen it in a year so not sure.

not sure if this will work but I saw its price.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-99...Q5fAccessories

that at least gets you a manifold and you can do the rest from there.

How much did the stainless steal oil return lines, turbo hoses and 90 degree bends and all that stuff run you?

Also what intercooler are you using? I was planning on using one for an acura rsx.

Everything you said in both of these posts is totally inaccurate regarding twin setups. In a traditional parallel twin setup, using smaller turbos on each of our 3 cylinders will decrease lag considerably and give major low-to-midrange gains, as well as a greater volume of O2 rich air for combustion at low RPM's. There's ample room in our application for small turbos with extremely efficient exhaust routing.

For pretty much anything except a purpose-built drag car, a parallel small-twin setup would be ten times more efficient than a large single turbo setup.

ur right, one small turbo for the front and one for the back. will work great.
im having fitment problem with just my set up, and thats one turbo, bigger than teh average but now you got two small turbos, twice the pipe. unless u go sequential (one big and one small) i dont see a point in doing twin. way more expensive, unique but expensive.

there won't be a market until the car is about $5000 for an 03.. cause then all the 18 year olds will have money for a $5k kit as well

if he can do it for $4k.. i'd be interested
