tuning with the FIC
Getting it to read the crank sensors and rev past 3000rpms whether it was directly wired in or using a harness was what I've seen. I think it plays nicer with the Accord ECU as some of those boosted guy have gotten it to work fine. Still haven't seen anything on this forum promising for the CL ECU. Hope I'm wrong though
im just trying to find the optimum tuning for my new setup. ive read about the FIC and its seems the best way to go but i havent seen anyone successful tune it on a CL.
IIRC theres a 6th gen Accord or two running it with the CL-S ECU. I could be mistaken. If Paul is doing the install, Id just let him worry about tuning. Thats what I was going to run back when I was going to be running the turbo.

lol yea i wish.
well he wont be tuning it. when hes finished its getting shipped back to florida to get tuned.

Hmmm. Maybe he doesnt do it anymore. He used to.
If hes going to do the install and the wiring, you might want to ask if he can tune it just to make sure everything works as its supposed to and the car is good to go before it leaves his place.
BTW, not sure if I asked you, but are you just having the motor rebuilt or are you stroking it?

yea thats what im probably going to do. i already have a emanage blue but i know the FIC is a litle better so id rather go with that.

I had two places claim they can tune FIC and fail, the tune works, and has a slight hesitation, but then the ECU re-writes the tune after one drive cycle. The J32 ECU is a tricky Mfer. Just have your FPR adjusted with the right boost and keep it at 6 lbs. My guy did a great job even though he's MIA right now.
I've called all over the place and most of the shops I have talked to from LA, Denver, St Louis, Philly, New York all say to just stay away from any piggy back system for the J32. Only one shop in Denver said that they used the AEM Stand Alone and it still doesn't run right. The FIC fails just as all the previous systems have to produce a lasting quality tune. I've been looking into this for a few months aggressively. For this reason, I'm going to do the bolt ons, then buy 2 other cars that have more options, WRX & another EJ8. The CL will be my "luxury" moderate car.

on a side note wasnt a fan of the cl kit you made but the one you got out now for the 4g tl looks great.

None, just a wideband which reads out very well at 15 in idle and 10-12 under throttle. Adjusted the FPR and everything is great. Made only 280 whp without the tune, and 300 whp with the tune, but the 20 whp sacrifice is worth the peace of mind.
I have sucseffuly installed 5 ro 6 FICs in the CL-S. Crank sensor issues were due to mis wiring , the CL-S MT uses Hall sensors and the CL-S AT uses Mag sensors.
As far as the ECU overwrite of the FIC, that is due to improper usage. The FIC unlike the EMB has a O2 skewing capability for tuning closed loop. This feature is there specifically to work with the existing ECU closed loop tune rather than against it. It does this by adding or removing O2 sensor feedback voltage so that the ECU will add or remove the fuel on it's own. Yes it takes some finese, but works quite well.
I will do low/mid throttle tuning, but I do not have a dyno to the top end on and as we all know top of third is 120MPH+, I like my drivers license, LOL.

not to diss, but i'll believe it when i see it, because everybody and their mother claimed the same thing. Have you done it from a distance? Like could you do it and ship it out to be plug and play, pre wired and all?
i guess we'll find out. hes going to hook up a FIC to my setup when my car gets up there.
I personally know of two who have not been able to get said wiring harnesses to work, so I'm with RonJon. I'm HOPING it works of course. I'm for anything to further this community and get more power out of the CL
