My cars SRS light is stayin on, after i installed my stereo, and sittin in the passenger seat while doin so...I know there is a tsb out for the srs light, and faulty passenger seat sensor...but my car has like 96000 KM's now, so out of warranty...If i bring it to the dealer, will i get charged? Even if i tell them i know that there is a tsb out? If so, ill just do the paper clip fix...fk the dealers...no offense...i mean, why should i try and fix it and fk somethin else up when dealers can fix it free...

I have the same problem, going to take it in on the 30th....SRS light is stuck on and when someone sits in the passenger seat the passenger seat airbag light goes on..i think its a pretty common problem in all hondas. Your system triggered it eh? Thats lame...im getting my system installed in 2 weeks

Ok...the side air-bag comes on to tell u that it's not engaged due to it sensing a smaller than normal amount of weight for an average adult. If an adult sits in the seat and slouches or leans over it will come on...thats normal....but if ur SRS light is on then that means a problem. It's pretty common and u will most likely have to replace the OPDS unit and/or sensor. If it's outta pocket it WILL be expensive...I'm warning you. If the srs light is because of the seatbelts...it's free cause they are warrantied for life. Whats ur paperclip fix for free??????Also what most people don't know is that when the SRS light is on....then all of ur airbags are not engaged...meaning if u crash...they won't deploy so it's pretty dangerous to just leave the light. If you clear the code the light will just come back on so I suggest taking the hit and fxing it. Don't plat w/ ur life.

since you're out of warranty, the dealer can do it out of good faith even though there's a TSB out for that issue. a TSB is just instructions to dealers on how to fix some commonly occur problems

Paperclip fix....

It is a yellow connector with two wires in it that is plugged into the fuse box, unplug it and pull it down. Once you have done that you can begin the process of erasing the memory. NOTE: This will only reset your SRS System if what caused it to trigger has been fixed, Ex: turning the ignition on with any SRS Plugs disconnected, such as pulling your seat out.

1st step in erasing the memory is to turn the ignition off and connect the SCS Service connector to the MES Plug,

2nd Turn Ignition on. SRS indicator light will come on for about 6 seconds then go off.

3rd Disconnect SCS service connector for MES connector within 4 seconds after SRS indicator light goes off. SRS indicator light will come on again.

4th Reconnect SCS service connector the MES connector within 4 seconds after SRS light comes on. SRS indicator light will go off.

5th Disconnect SCS service connector from MES connector within 4 seconds. SRS indicator light will indicate that memory is erased by blinking 2 times.

6th Turn ignition off, and wait 10 seconds. Start vehicle like normal and light should come on and go out like normal. You have reset your SRS light, congrats.

If it does not work the first time try it again, the timing has to be perfect. My first time it took me 3 attempts before it worked, but it did work.

Can someone show me a picture or Helms diagram of which the MES Connector is? It is not readily apparent to me.
