Trying to talk my buddy into a 6MT CLS
I have a friend who just moved into an apt. next to mine. He drives a shitty 93 Subaru Legacy but makes a BUNDLE. I'm trying to get him in to an 03 6SP CLS as he's the type of guy who would keep it forever. He says he wants either the CLS or the 350Z, but I think the CLS would be a better choice for him as he's not a real car modifier, he just likes a fast good looking car. Acura of Boston quoted me 29K for a 6SP with NAV a few weeks back (I HAD to check as I was feeling bad for not getting another Acura after 4 previous). I think that car is a STEAL, even at MSRP.
6SPD'ers....what are some other things I can tell my buddy to sell him on the CLS? Give me your thoughts on the best features of the manual tranny.

I don't think there's going to be many people here that are going to say the CLS6 sucks. We all know it kicks ass, and for that price it's hard to beat.
I'm surprised he'd be considering the CLS6 and the 350Z. Two completely different cars. 4-seater vs. 2-seater. Trunk vs. no trunk. More luxury amenities vs. less luxury amenities.
If he was to get a new car and wants to spend under 30K, it's a no brainer. If he's willing to shell out a bit more cash, maybe a trip to other dealers is warranted also. Drive them all and make a decision.
Are there still 6spds with NAVI available? There probably are a few, but he certainly won't have a color selection to choose from.

Personally, i like my CL-S but i would have rather got the G35 6spd like yours. I never test drove it but should have. I got a CLs 6spd navi and am happy with it, the best part about it is it comes with just about every option stock. You don't have to worry about paying extra cause there really is nothing extra, except spoiler, splash guards, wheel locks, that kind of crap. I don't know if i could go back i might not get my car again but would shop around more. 350Z, G35, CLS, i guess they all are in the same range.

As long as he doesn't get the G35c he should be fine! You don't want him blowing up your spot!
I think scrib nailed it in that it depends what he wants. more lux = CLS6, more sport = Z. And by Lux I also mean space. Either way he'll be happy.

You can tell him....
1) Acura Service is typically better than Nissan
2) The CL has an exclusivity about it that 350Z doesn't have
3) In the NorthEast, FWD is easier to deal with in the winter
However, the 350Z is a fast car with up-to-date styling. He should enjoy either car over his Subaru Legacy.

I'll second that, FWD is essential in the northeast. Good luck driving in snow or crazy weather with a RWD sports car as your daily driving car. No Thanks!

All I can say is that Scrib is probably right about selection of colors and options. My latest CLS6 was acquired on June 20 in anthricite, with a navi, spoiler added later. There were only three left in the continental us.
I have not test driven the G35 or the Z, so I will not poo poo them. I am sure that they are fine cars.
However, for me the thrill is not gone every time I twist the key of the CLS. Due to the close gear ratio spacing, first gear launches are my least favorite, but once you get past that, this car goes!
I suggest you do not skimp, and have him demo the navi version.
the navi is cool, and I do NOT find it distracting.
Scrib: my VP owns a G35S, and he was dismayed to see that I can program my navi by touch screen, and he says his won't do this. Is this true? I find it hard to believe that the G35, three years newer than the CL, would NOT have that technology. Enlightenment, please. Ps: Nicky and I are getting together on Sunday to make pics of our custom coated wheels. 11 or noon. Check his post, page 2. Love to see you there.

I haven't demoed/seen the G - NAVI in action so I can't comment.
Sorry.

It probably was just my Acura dealer.. Paragon! UGH!! Some people here have horror stories about them.
But with my Z, I get free towing, a 50k mile warranty (extended to cover the lease), a loaner car and a free 15k service from Nissan - thrown in for $5 extra a month on my lease.

Not necessarily. My experience with my Nissan dealer so far has been MUCH better than the experiences I had with my Acura dealer.
