Trunk leak

Happy 4th of July all!!

I have a question to see if anyone else has had this issue and could shed some light for me. i have a leak in my truck and the water seems to be mostly next to my tire changing tools on the right side. I have checked the molded seal that is where the body sections come together and don't see any issue. I have tried to simulate it by pouring water from the bottom of the rear window but nothing leaked down. Any thoughts from the experts?

check your sunroof tubes.
I have no trunk seal and I don't get water in that way.

they run from the rear of the sunroof to either side behind tools and jack before exiting the body.
And if it was leaking at either joint or the the tube it self it would be getting wet were you said.

pull the trunk liner from wet side and look behind the metal pannel and feel around for moisture. Should take 5 min to find tube is the problem.
if the problem is behind that pannel it will be easy to fix. if it's up high the problem would be easy to fix too but, you would have to remove the headliner.

but i would say if the headliner is not wet it's not the top joint.
check behind the wet side trunk liner first.

Thanks again for the information, but I ended up finding the leak in the joint that I thought I sealed before. Oh well, resealed and off we go.

My leak happened to be the putty type 'seal' in the well of the trunk were the right fender, trunk and top come together. It must have had a crack in it and I found the water dripping from in the trunk, from the joints of the joined metal.

That's a weird spot. was the car crashed and repaired before .since you reglued the joint there, you did not think it might be leaking there. ? Problems don't always say hello but, if you look and actually look you will find.

No, the car was never in an accident, and yes, it is strange that it would leak there. Not sure if I used the best sealent to try and correct the issue, but I put a bead on each side of the stock seal, then after it dried, painted it for another layer. Will see how it works.
