tried to install my rotora's...
and got stuck!
the two screws that hold the rotor in are stuck.
i tried tapping them with a hammer, pentrant oil, etc.
i've read i might need an impact screwdriver. do you need a compressor to use one of those?
and for those who brought it to the dealer to get off how much did they charge you?
do the rear rotors have the same screws holding them in?
thanks.

Yes the rears do have the same screws. I ran into the same problem. I bought an impact screw driver at the local parts store. It ran about $30. Once tap with a mini sledge and the screws were free.

if all else fails... dril them out.. but be very careful.
I have about 20 of thea screws you need... but that does you no good.

Meat stick
Mine were REALLY bad after 140K on the ODO
Had to drill them out, but it's not that big of a deal. The part that sticks is the screw to the rotor....the screw itself does not stick in it's own threading. Heat it, pound it, drill it.....(drill as a last resort, as always)
And you DO NOT need to replace those screws...they are there to hold the rotor in place during first assembly. The lugs hold the rotor to the hub; the screws are useless.

The PB Blaster works.
Where were you changing them? since I don't have a garage, I went to a commuter lot and did it? Where r u located? I got PB Blaster and the impact screwdriver if you wanna meet up somewhere. It took me about 10 mins each side to replace the rotors.

You don't have to put the two screws back in if you don't want to. All they do is hold the rotor to the hub when you remove the wheel. Once the wheel is on, they aren't coming loose.

didn't your mom teach you anything!!.. put it back the way you found it.... ![pofl](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/pofl.gif)
but like others and Neil said.. it is not the end of the world without the screws.
On my buddies Dodge Durango when you take the wheel off the rotor is loose.. most other auto makers do not use the screws.

so i'm guessing it's just a regular screw driver with some sort of impact capability?
thanks for the advice guys.

Blown is Best
I've had mixed success with the impact screwdriver I got from Craftsman. I've also used a centerpunch on the edge of the screw and hammered to rotate it instead of drilling out. I always replace with new screws and anti-sieze.

I hate those screws. Took us hours to get them off. Used a hammer and a dremel. Only left one screw in per rotor. This is the poorest design. Other cars use allen head bolts.
Does anyone know a better replacement screws? Something other than a Phillips head screw that looks like it belongs more on my RC car that a high-performance luxe coupe?
