Tricking The Dealer

Im sure everyones aware of the 100k warranty on our transmissions, what if we replaced the instrument cluster on our 100k+ cars with a lower mileage clusters? Would the dealer find out?

And the warranty is only good for 7 years after the in service date (or 100K miles whatever comes first)...

If the dealers didn't know before this post, I bet they are sure to beware of any 19 year olds from South San who come in with a 2001 ACURA CL-S with 14,343 miles on it.

If there are any service records of your car and your mileage magically decreased from the last time you were in...I think they might notice

Yep, you cant switch them out. Any switchout, rollback you try and do, the computer will not recognize it, and the cluster will be ruined/make it self shutdown. It wont work

Can't believe you would even try to do something like that.

Why don't you be the first to try it out? Make sure you have enough money for bail money

Yes ECU keeps the track of ur Mileage but u might be lucky my friend was.. My friend did that on his Subaru Wrx he had over 100k miles on it and he swicthed it to 46k and the dealer took it in and let him trade for a newer STI..

The ECU may in fact record the mileage, but it is not the mileage that is displayed on the cluster. The mileage that is displayed is stored in an onboard chip on the cluster itself, and it will not be modified by the ECU. The cluster will work just fine, but is quite dishonest to do.

Obviously you're a liar and a thief. Anyone who comes close to you had best keep a hand on their wallet. Hope you get caught.

Oh really, you must feel good making assumptions against someone you don't even know. Why would I even attempt it, my car has 84447 miles on the odometer and it covered by another 36k by the dealership that I bought my car from, Ellis Brooks. So what's the point? you tell me Mr. Assumptions

edit: Also, i'd gladly trick the dealership if I had too, do you know how many people they have betrayed and lied too to escape the cost of warranty repairs? Thousands if not millions.

Well, let's wee if you get arrested for pulling this shit when you're pass 100K. Call me honest, but no way I can ever do something like this.

I swapped the gauge cluster in my old Maxima and when I sold it even though there was no record saying that the cluster was changed and that the mileage on the odometer was off by 100K, I still told any buyer what the true mileage was. It's just bad karma not too.

What assumption....you posted a thread titled "Tricking The Dealer" where you led us to believe that you will actually consider getting a new gauge with lower mileage, and you don't expect to be called a liar.

You know what....I ASSUME that you will eventually try something like this....and I hope that you get caught.

and so what is your source of information? how many of those complaints came from customers who were dissatisfired because their high expectations weren't met? how about those rejected warranty claims because of abuse or neglect or even the owners trying to escape the cost of repairs or replacements on wear items?

Remember they can always check your vin # to see what the mileage was last time you had it serviced.

lol....interesting how so many people get mad at one person who tries to cheat a dealership when dealerships cheat people out of money and put people in debt over the many decades of car selling....

I mean yea...its dishonest...but a dealer telling you your car is not worth what you saw on kbb is also dishonest....who the hell is fully honest nowadays anyways....

in my opinion i say F**K the dealers i could give a shit if they get dicked.....but karma is a bitch and she will bite....

if you get away from it....add that notch on yo belt...and keep riding....karma is always around..so...fuck her too...lol...

DO what you do homie.....get them for everyone they get.....but you didnt hear that from me...and dont be talking bout ms. jenkins....lol..

IMO, if you check the carfax and see when your last mileage was recorded also, if you had an emmision test done, then you should be ok, all the other people on this forum who are cussing him out are wrong, dealers fuck over people so they deserve it back.

To be honest I have thought of doing that myself too. Granted I wont because I have no idea how I would do it and im probably going to hit the 7 years before the 100k anyway. If you are seriously going to do that fine out what the last record of your mileage was and about about 2k or so to it so they dont get suspecious. Also if you want to do that just take out the fuse for mileage so it wont go any higher. Once again something I would never do because I need to know when the oil is ready to be changed and like I said before the 7 years for me will be done before 100k. Anyway good luck to you.

Not true. Ive got a ECU from 1 car and a cluster from the other. The Cluster showed the mileage from the car it came out of

nah if you're at 100k, put your car in reverse and drive backward. It'll reverse your mileage and take it to the dealer
