this will help to make the mufflers height adjustable. you need a couple hose clamps, size 7/8 - 2 3/4".

remove the rubber mount for the muffler (to make it slide off easy spray it w/ some wd40)




place the hose clamp around the rubber mount, then reinstall the mount in a fashion which allows you to adjust the clamp w/ a screwdriver.




once it's back on you should be able to tighten the clamp a few turns and even out your mufflers. it also helps to cut down on the side sway that our exhaust tends to have.

 

Will this also stop them from swaying back and forth?

i have a clamp on both sides and my exhaust doesn't sway.

The clamps will help you control the amount that the exhaust hangers extend thereby giving you adjustability into the height of the exhaust tips.

Did you buy a set for all the hangers or only the rear?

 

Hm. Anyone got pics or a DIY (for dummies) of how to do it? I noticed my exhaust pipes are hangin a little lower than I'd like, and this sounds so great to do.

Nice post. I did this several years ago and they ended up snapping. The harsh weather took a toll on those clamps.

The best solution is to get under the car with a piece of pipe and slide the hanger bracket into the opening and bend the sucker into the right spot.

 

pretty smart.... now if I only had exhaust

 

Most of those clamps can be taken apart fully - you just unscrew it - wrap it around the rubber mount and tighten - saves having to take off the mufflers...

I tried that, eventually the clamps slip off. So I got rid of the rubber part and just kept metal clamp. that helped.

 

Excellent post... however, is this for the OEM or CT exhaust or does it matter? I can't remember what you've got.

Yeah, but I had mine soooo tight, for some reason, one of my exhasut was sitting very low, maybe from when one of the dealers backed up into the curb a few years agao. Friggin idiots. but def a good idea.

 

not to rain on your parade but i think my way might be better... 2 hangers F/R on the side that hangs low...mine have been on for 3 years
