Question transmission going to HELL?

i'm driving in D5. as i'm giving the car gas, i can hear the transmission shifting just fine from 1>4 gears. i approach roughly 45MPH and release the gas peal, the car remains in 4th gear, doesn't shift to 5th. i have to use SS mode to shift to 5th. i'm driving on a flat road. tranny going to hell? any input would be appreciated. thanks.

a little way to test it is to go on the feeder road or a very empty freeway.....accelerate at normal grandmaish rate and when the car goes to shift into 2-->3 or 3--->4 bump the gas pedal a few times to about 1/2-3/4 throttle. watch the revs and see if they shoot up with no poweroutput to the wheels. if so then yours is slipping excessively and you have less than a week of life left prob.

Is it just a one time issue? Try what cltypeSLOW said since this is the first time he didn't say "Search."

Or if it's happening all the time, take it to the dealership. Better to do that than to have it go from 5th to 2nd like mine did.

i do feel whatever power no matter how much gas i push.
by the way, from 2nd to 3rd gear sort of shaky too under normal acceleration.
