Transmission Cooler

Hi. Transmission question:

Does installing a transmission cooler prolong the life of the CL transmission or make it smoother? I am interested in doing this install myself after seeing it in the CL information thread and would like to get some of your views about this product beforehand, thanks!

I don't see it extending the transmission life much as it's a design issue, not a heat issue killing the transmissions. Plus the tranny fluid is already cooled by being piped through the radiator.

Heat is not the problem but it wont hurt to install a cooler. Im just saying it might not help either. As long as your under warranty, i wouldnt worry about it.

I have a B&M tranny cooler on my 01 CL-S. I love it. I shifts so smooth. I can take my car to the track and the tranny never gets hot. When you have it installed, just have them add a little extra fluid.

or basically dont drive the car , but in all seriousness when I had my tranny coller on it felt like the tranny fluid never got hot and the shifts were always smooth, now that its off. Thats not the case anymore, so it doesnt hurt but I am unsure on how much it helps.

Looks like there are mixed reviews for this one. Anyone else have their take on this mod?

Thanks for the feedback from everyone so far.
