Tranny Went Out
Driving on the 134 to Glendale going about 70 it downshifted till it hit ~25 and skidded like hell. Thank god Acura of Glendale is replacing it 100% free of charge. Still scared the hell out of me. But ehh...

46k miles on it. and yeah i get a loaner but not in the traditional sense. my dad is going to have to sign for it since im not 21 but i'll drive it afterwards. it'll be done on wednesday, thrusday at the latest. and yeah thanks guys. i think i'm gonna trade it in for that 6 speed i was talking about recently...that thing scared the hell out of me and i dont want to go through that again. any suggestions on what a good price would be for an anthracite (which is the color the car i have now, oddly) 6spd manual with navi and 87k miles? looks pretty taken care of except for minor details and such...they have it priced at 12,900. good price? or room for haggle?

Room to haggle on the 87K 6spd... If it's the color you want, it might be worth paying 500-1000 more than it's "worth"...
Since you want to trade, they might haggle on the 6spd and low ball you on your CLP. I would figure out that the difference out of pocket is (value of 6spd minus value of CLP), and tell 'em that's what you're willing to pay out of pocket (plus TTL fees).
Example: My 6spd is worth about 10K trade in (72K miles). If I'm going to trade that in on a car with an invoice price of 25K, then I'm willing to pay 15K out of pocket. If they low ball me on the 6spd and offer 8K and want 25K on the new car, that's 17K out of pocket and I walk... They could charge me 27K on the new car, and give me 12K on the 6spd and that would be ok (still the 15K difference I want to spend).
Dealers will pay with the numbers (to their advantage), so you just have to know your limits when you walk in there. When they low ball on trade, and want to charge sticker (and not haggle) on the new car, that's how they get you.
It is slow here on weekends...

Is it worth 4K to you to upgrade to a 6spd ?? Only you can make that call...
Let them stew... if they want to get it off the lot, they'll come back with a better offer...
Or You can counter offer and tell 'em you want 10k for your car and 12K for there car... 2K is alot better then 3900 to upgrade to a 6spsd... heck, tell 'em you want 11K for your car and 12K for their car... and work down to 2K difference...

Hey for 01 Acura CLS - what type of warrenties on the transmission apply?
Do they have recalls or limited to a certain miliage? I'm at 130k right now and it seems to be fine.
But asking never hurts ...

So I'm jumping into that 6spd sometime next week (god willing). Haggled them down to 12.5k for theirs and 10.5 for mine. it's still kinda bad for me cuz there's a few niggles about the car that make me cringe but they're fixable. a little buzzing coming out of the driver side front speaker, side mirrors fuse seems to be out and the navigation doesn't play DVDs (ok, so i didnt know it doesnt play DVD, sue me!)but other than that the car pulls hard and the clutch feels fine. it's kinda sad, as scary as the tranny going out on me was im gonna miss my CL-P...but the wind on my face will dry my tears :-D
