I'm not sure if my tranny is bad, but here's the situation.

I turn on my car, then I notice that all 3 lights (Parking/5th gear/1st gear) are on. Within a second, the 5th gear light turns off, but 1st gear and park light is still on.

So I try to change into every gear, and I notice 2nd gear does not come on, but starting 3rd and up, they all light up...with 1st gear always staying lit. I try to shut the car off, then try starting again, but problem still occurs.

Any insight on this? Thanks!~

 

How's the mechical side of the tranny? driving and shifting,you are only explaining electrical issues.

 

heh...well I didn't notice any jerky-ness(?) when I was driving...(usually just on D5) And I have yet to test out manually shifting through the gears....1>2>3>4>5....or the triptronic...maybe I should test them out and see if anything happens...

What are the signs of bad tranny? I was imagining the car just goes *poof* :o

 

jerky shifting,hard banging shifts at normal driving speeds,and my favorite,slippage.(RPM's rise while MPH is constint)

 

if there is a electrical trans problem the D5 light should blink.

all my car did when the trans died was toss out the P1709 for internal transaxle malfunction
