track time for today..

good weather and all, 60 deg 60% humidity

went with rob (pureadrenline) in his tl-s with an intake, i believe his best was 15.0, my best was 14.50 , should be better with my 60' and the good weather i dont know whats wrong, 60' was a 2.21, had less than 1/4 tank, no spare/jack, i dont know what was going on, i should of atleast been in the 14.2-4.3 range

oh btw, toyo proxes 4's are great at the track, i dropped em to 25 psi and pulled 2.2 60's on all my runs, i'll be lookin for a 2.1 when i go next week.

My best run came in at 15.001@94mph... spun off the line, banged the limiter going from 1st to 2nd. 1/1000 of a second away from getting into the 14's..

Darrin, it was great to finally meet you, and I had a good time. I was just pissed because my car was slow. :p

Hopefully I can get the headers and tires in soon. Short on money right now.

Not bad darrin. You've run quicker so you know the potential of your car. Lets see what the chip nets.

I'm still in the 15-second club. :o

I am NOT going back to the track until I get SR headers, and maybe nitrous if I get enough money together.

darrin,
check your CAI. i only had 2-3k miles on mine, and when i cleaned it, there was a little bit better breathing.
if yours needs a cleaning, do it before you go back. i doubt it would of gave you more than a 1/10th (probably not even that), but you never know!
also, can you post all the details for the 14.2 and your current run of 14.5?
slips arent necessary, i just want to see the rest for comparison.

No, but it did affect your speedometer reading. I think about 1.9% too fast, which means when your speedo reads 60 mph, you're actually going 58.8mph.

Correct, 235/45/17 is the most acurate but isn't recomended for our width rims. 225/50/17 are only 1.5% fast compared to the 1.9% of the 45 series.

stock tires were 819 revs per mile, the toyos are 828..

my only guess is right now that the long line at the track, cause our cars like it when they are ran hard back to back runs, like no more that 3-5 min between everyrun, the track was busy so i couldnt get runs in quick...

I've noticed that too. If I can pull right back up to the line I'll get better and better.

How much mileage is saved from 225/50/17's compared to lost with 225/45/17's based on a switch from stock?

I went to a track in Maryland called "Maryland International Raceway.... (M.I.R)..... My 60 ft was a consistant 2.2 but I think I could have gotten on the stock tires a 2.1 if I had launched a little harder....

Is it possible that the 14.2 was just a fluke and your real world average should be somewhere in the mid 14's? How many timeshave you ran 14.2-14.3? What do stock auto's run, 14.9? 4 tenths from your mods would not be considered out of the normal range. Also, didnt you have some tranny issues awhile ago (brown fluid), are you sure the tranny isnt slipping?

For low low 14's you're gonna probably need at least 100mph.

^^

It is very possible to run low 14s with headers and intake with an Auto.

I'm hoping to back this up next weekend.

Right now I consistantly run low 14.6s with 3 or 4 14.5s @ 97mph under my belt with only an Icebox Intake and new tires. With an additonal 20-30hp from header plus a better 60' from new suspension there's no reason he shouldn't have been in the 14.2-3 range again. Must have been the track conditions or weather.

This is why I tried to tell you that a run (or runs) at a track on a single day are not indicative of the vehicles performance. You may again run a 14.2 but that is probably not the norm. This is why I said I would pay you money if you could break into the 14's mid summer at Atlanta Dragway; there are many uncontrollable variables.

Just have fun with it. And if you are ever concerned with the car just go to the dyno as the variables are still present but minimalized with correction factors.

scalbert and jtkz...

the problem was the line at the track, when u run the car back to back, like 2-4 min. between every run the ecu adapts and the car gets faster

when i ran 14.5's all day 2 days ago i was waiting 20 minutes between runs, that was my only problem, 14.2's or .1's would be possible that day if there was no line
joe, i ran 14.2 only once but 14.3 5 times, it was no fluke

That may be the case, but that also further shows that comparing times between different tracks is pointless; you never know what the conditions might be.

it was at the same track, but that was the only factor i could think of, and i think i am right, ask type R, he knows that the car gets better when u run it hard back 2 back...
