track night

I can't drive for shi+. If I could, welp, there is no stopping me (just kidding eggheads)!!!

It was freezing in Orlando last night (for Floridians, anyway): Track temps at 45 degrees, no wind, and my almanac said 78% humidity at 10pm last night...

Myself, fla-tls, SCTL-SS and someone else (who is a unidentified lurker) met at Speedworld outside of Orlando. Every redneck in the world blew their car up and with so many people and so much time wasted cleaning up the messes, we only got 2 good runs in...

For my runs:
1/4 tank of gas, spare still in the car, gym bag/briefcase in the trunk (no foolin'), lowered my front tires from the normal 37psi to 30psi...I didn't brake torque at all, no gate or s/s shifting, just a stomp and go in D5 with VSA off. fla-tls has OBX, I've got Comptech (I'll consider this a check for me since I paid more and the propaganda dyno says more gains for me). He's got Comptech Icebox, I've got Injen (he paid more money and has better gains on the propaganda dyno thsi time). I have the UR advantage over fla-tls, but he's got 17's vs. my 18's (back to being even).

Of course our SC'd friend dropped a sub 14 on us, but oh well, it was fun trying. The 4th TL-S had some massive 19's that kept him behind the rest of us, and like the front running SC'd car, out of competition here.

I just tried to attach my scanned slips, but like an idiot, I do not know how to make the image smaller (that and it is before noon and my coffee hasn't kicked in to at least allow me to think the process through). If someone can reduce them, I'll email the jpeg...

R/T .784
60' 2.254
330' 6.182
1/8 9.349
MPH 76.65
1000' 12.134
1/4 14.458
MPH 97.10

My other run was a 14.585 @ 96.74 vs. a Rustang GT who ran a 14.961 @ 100.49 after getting me on the lauch...I did have a third run with a lot of fluid on the track. I ran over a 15 and had a 60' time of 2.47 after I spun steady through second gear to 4500 rpms...We won't count that one...fla-tls times are at the link below. I beat him, but he was pretty close and he will get his 14.5's soon enough.

Lastly, for everyone who loves to magazine race and never believes certain stories and why we say the majority of the time it is a driver's race in almost every situation, a 6 speed, G35 Coupe with an intake, springs, etc. and brand new tires (only had 3500 miles on the car) ran over 15.2 not once, but twice! His buddy had a 350Z with similar mods and it ran a 13.3xx! Go figure...That being said, if I could gate shift like mattg, I dropped the spare and dropped 'em tires to 25psi or maybe a hair lower, I still say it is a 14.2/3 car. But what do I know...

For more, got to:

We'll get a little more power in your car next Saturday. But only for a short time though. Maybe we can head out for a quick run after the pulls on the rollers.

Not bad times though, very nice...

Well, if the gains are there, I'll buy the unit shortly after coming home before getting the sc (since it works with FI or not). Just need the harness issue straightened out.

In 15 runs at the track, my lowest 60' time is 2.230...I don't get it. My Nitto 555R's are still pretty fresh, I did lower the psi a tad...I dunno...

ps--Being humbled by your 6sp sc seems worth it!

r10apple, you have similar mods to me and ran exactly what i did. i got 14.44 with icebox, obx header, and ur pulley. do you have the entire pulley set or just crank?
also, the 18s might not affect you at all. as long as the overall diameter is the same, and if they weigh the same as stock, then there is no difference.

Just the crank pulley...You have a TL-S or CL-S???

I'm 4 hours from there, but got to WPB a lot. I just haven't ever gotten around to going when I'm there partying!

Believe it or not, with all my highway driving, my shop recommends 37psi (which I run) and I have no uneven wear issues present at all (rotate every 5k as well)...

I don't think any street tire is going to hold a 300 hp launch significantly better than another. I think you definitely have at least another .2 seconds in your car though. Getting tire pressure right and figuring the best way to get out of the hole is going to be the trick. I'm looking forward to acura wars. I hope my car will be running well then.
