Let me change the question; does anyone have any experience with these tires?

Try 1010tires.com which has a lot of ratings for Toyo and other tires. Similar to Tirerack.com which doesnt carry Toyo's. I'm looking at the new Proxes 4 myself and we are in the same neighborhood it looks like (I work in Monrovia)

btw, the reason I am looking at the 4's instead of the TPT's is that I really want to upsize to 235/45.

I had the Toyo Proxes TPT tires installed on my CL-S...I've only had them on for a month so far, but I think they're great. They seem to handle well in the rain. Also, they are a directional tire. I would recommend them.

Please compar the stock Michelins to the Toyos on a scale of 1-10 with the Michelins being a 5 on the following;
Ride quality
Road noise
Dry handling
Damn I hate buying a tire that I have no experience with!

for what it's worth, I have a set on my CL S as well. They have about 6500 miles on them and were on the car when I purchased it. I don't drive the car particularily hard, but, I've not experienced any problems with the tires that would lead me to believe they had significant flaws in any area.

Just noticed Dan's last comments. Shortly after I bought my car I stopped into my local Acura Parts Dept. and was speaking with a fellow I've known there for some time. We happened to be talking tires and he mentioned that he felt the Toyo Proxes TPT's that were on my car were excellent value as compared to the OEM Michelins. This dealership sold both replacement OEM Michelins and the Toyo's and I believe the pricing on the Michelins was about 35% higher than the Toyo's. I have no idea if that pricing structure compares to what you're being quoted in your area.

How is the road noise on these tires? The stock Michelins are very loud at highway speeds ... loud enough that I'm thinking about replacing them even though they only have 19K on them!

I have not noticed any objectionable road noise, but, I was not listening specifically for it. If it had been quite loud, I'm certain I would have noticed it though. Runninlow3, how's your hearing?

Perhaps this might be a question to put to your tire retailer. Indicate to them that the primary reason you're thinking of switching tires is because of excessive road noise from the Michelins and ask their opinion on whether the Toyo's would solve that problem. At least if you put the Toyo's on and found them to be noisy, hopefully if your tire retailer is a decent person, they would acknowledge their error and offer you another replacement tire that would be quiet and give you a full credit for what you paid them for the Toyo's.
