It is a steal ! It is a pain in the ass to locate these tires in Northern California ! Best price I could beg for was 175.50 per tire, plus $$$ install, which came to $821.93 with a 300 dollar deposit ! I am going with Michelim sport tires ! Sorry Technique and EricL. The quote for these tires is too high and most had negative comments about the Toyo's........

Iv e a lot of research and talked to many competitors at solo II events. The majority are running Nitto 555 extremes. The Toyo has a more aggressive tread pattern if cosmetics are more importatnt. I paid 112/tire from Discount for 555's. They stick like glue.

I didn't mean to imply that Toyo are bad tires ! I was surprised who most of the tire dealers spoke negatively about Toyo's. It's just a pain in the ass to find them at a good price in California I suppose......

So, you can find the tires and get them cheap, and 150-160 each is the going rate (at a cheap-o) dealer. But, you might want to talk to someone about how reliable the dealer is when it comes to problems (I have no problems with the tires). In fact, the above advice applies to any purchase.
I would have gladly paid an extra 10 bucks a tire to have a "nice" tire dealer that weren't scumbags to deal with. Check with Technique -- his guys up north seem to be good guys.
Don't ever deal with Washington Tire and Wheel, you will regret it if you ever have a minor problem with anything...
Suggestion 2:
There a few places on the web (kind of like Tire Rack [who have been great]) that will sell you the Toyos and drop ship them to a vendor – check around…

For thos eof you with the 235 series tires. Do you experience any issues when you are on the highway? I was talking to somebody, and they mentioned that with wider tires the steering wheel moves to the left or to the right, and never stays straight. Is this true?
Thanks,
Spiro

BTW -- I can only speak about the Toyos and my car. Perhaps, someone with a "problem" needs an alignment or a different brand of tires and/or wheels.

With my Nittos, I had both an alignemnt (due to a minor accident with my stock tires) and balancing issue (no cause).
Town Fair Tire did both alignment and balancing (twice) to get right at no cost!
Great after sale Service, I wish they do that from the first time right though.
However, with 235/40 series, I am prety sure that you would feel the road and the tirs would "track" the road surface curves more...I guess this is what your friend is implying.

I have Bridgestone PP-03s, 235-45-17, on SSR Competitions and Comptech Springs. The handling is much improved over stock and I have not noticed any rubbing at all. However, I haven't driven it very hard with more than one other person in the car. The only negative that I have noticed is what has been referred to as "tracking" at low speeds.

Sheeoooot. I bought my Zenetti's from them, the next day after I got them I heard about Ogolden's accident and I called them back wanting to exchange them. They said f-off too and got all angry at me. I couldn't do *anything* except report them to my credit card company. Unfortunately, they couldn't do anything either because for some reason, credit card companies don't insure or do anything with car parts. I would never go back to them either.</STRONG>

I'm sorry to here this. I originally said that they were ok. Perhaps karma will catch-up with them eventually, or the word will get around (it usually does) and they will not screw anymore members or other good people out there.

I'm extremely glad to hear you have no rubbing issues as far as you can tell. Can you tell me the offset on your rims?
Thanks

Oh my, let me see if I got this right.
I've got 7.5 width rims and you have 8's. Difference of about 12.7mm? (correct)?
You have offset of +48, I have +45. Difference of 3mm? (correct)?
So here's what I need to know. Does this mean my rims will be about 6.7mm further from the OUTSIDE fender and 3.7mm further from the inside than yours? Anybody? In other words with a lower offset, is the rim further under the car?
Thank you
Rob

My Dad sells all Toyos and I have had both the FZ4 and T-1s on my 96 Jetta GLX VR-6. You cannot kill either tire. I put about 40k on the FZ4s and about 55k on the T-1s. It all comes down to price and Preference .. The T-1's look better than the FZ4. The FZ4's don't look bad either. They alot better than the POS Michelin Granny tires that are on mine. Since it is only two weeks old, I will probably keep them for awile.

With a lower offset, the rim is further away from the struts and closer to the fender.
