Toyo Proxes T1-S?
Toyo Proxes T1-S?
For those of you that have the Toyo T1S,how do you like them? I need to get new tires and there is no way that I am getting the Michelins. Also for those of you that have the 2001 stock rims, what size tires did you get? Thanks for the info
I've had mine for 4 months now and I love them.
They are 225/45/17s mounted on Konig Appeal 17x7" wheels.
While I can still spin them easily, they do hook up much quicker than the OEM tires. They also do not break loose as easily when shifting in to 2nd.
They do provide excellent traction on cornering.
I would likely go with them unless I find another tire that weighs as little as the Toyos do.

Unless some something much better comes along, they will go on my next car too...
P.S. -- the lifetime balance and rotation is "worthless" to me.. Washington Tire sold me the tires and my SSR wheels. They were so abusive to me in regards to a small problem with my SSR center caps that I refuse to ever do business there again (I just pay for my balance and rotation elsewhere.)
P.S.S -- the tires are good for 15-20K miles.

Stick as well --> I doubt it
Make less noise --> I'm not sure about that ... depends on surface
They won't give the same grip.
The Kumhos also weigh more than the Toyos.
The 712s are great for people who want better performance that last a long time and are willing to give up some stick. I drive hard and I'll get at least 15-20K miles out of the Toyos.
I'd pay more $$$ for more grip without getting the harshness of most "R" rubber.
$500 vs. $700 (you have to think about how many miles per year your going to be driving when considering that $200...)
SP9000 or Firehawk SZ50 are both awesome.
Have heard great things about the Toyo's as well but never tried them.
Stay away from FM901, they are good for lighter cars but the CLS/TLS is too much car for those tires IMHO.

Best bang for the buck==sumitomos+--360 tradwear--Z rated--quiet and sticky--Much better than stock---$89 at Tirerack.com--Sears may match price. Even my wife couldn't believe how good they are!!!!
I had them on my car (1st gen)... they are unbelievable tires!!!!
BEST by far when it comes to dry and wet road handling... the grooves allow you to fly through raina nd wet surfaces, even puddles, with no sliding or hydroplaning... I drove to FL from NY throughserious rain storms and maintained a speed of 70-90 mph...
However, I WILL NEVER BUY THEM AGAIN!!!! They wear way too easily!!! I guess if you wanna stick really well, you gotta melt really well!!! I had them a summer and a half... one trip to PA and one trip to FL... the rest was local driving... maybe 15k miles and they were bald to the tire lining.... if you do NOT mind paying for them ever year or 2... GO FOR IT!!!!

Id buy these for my 19's and absolutely love them. I definitely recommend them to anyone who will listen. As far as wear goes, mine have been wearing great, and I expect a long life out of them for a performance tire. I have 235-35-19's, and i but several thousand on them already, and I have tons of tread left.
Casper what size were you running, and on what rims?
Livin in NJ though, I dont think these will do a good job in the snow, do you have winter tires?

Excellent experience with the Toyos......
They have extremely strong sidewalls. Since our cars are very heavy, this is a DEFINITE advantage over the other tires offered for the CL.

i have and i personally feel the kumho's had better dry and wet grip over the Yoko's. I also feel the kumho's were quieter.
Both the Yokos and Kumhos are great value's, if i had to choose between the two again, i'd go with the kumho's.
Riceburner, you may also want to look into the Bridgestone Potenza S-03. They are awesome on wet and dry and i believe are a bit cheaper then the Toyo's. For all out performance on any kind of surface, the S-03's are probably the best tire for the money.
I have 225/45 r 17 currently... i drive hard and often... DO NOT GET ME WRONG.. they are great and stick better than anything else... I have taken sharp almost 180 degree turns at 80 mph and they havent skreeched!!!!Thery just wore very very quickly...
