Torque damper ?

Are torque dampers only for manual tranny's ?
Do they really do anything or are they just a waste of money ?

The manuals have the brackets for them. I dont know if the autos do. And yes they help as long as the bracket system is strong.

Read the threads in the FAQ section. I actually ordered two and then read that they come loose easily and often and some members have had theirs fall off completely. From what I've read new mounts will eliminate the wheel hop without dampers. To me they seemed like a waste of cash, but I don't even know if they apply to autos...

Use some plumbing thread tape on the bolts, the dampeners wont come apart.

This style is what I was wondering about.

This look to be a very good spot to help the engine movement.

Thats a K series motor. It would be difficult to do that sort of setup in the CL. To do it off the front valve cover would be pointless as the radiator support will flex. The geometry would be all wrong if you do it off the rear valve cover to the firewall, unless to bolt it straight back, but good luck getting a drill and tap set in there to do it. IIRC the Ingalls setup that Fries was trying to get going came off the power steering pump area and attached to the strut tower. Thats a good spot for it, and the Accord guys definitely notice a difference.

No, I meant wrong side of the strut tower. Youre mounting it to the inside of the strut tower, in line with the ps pump.

The autos dont have the mount points from the factory on the K-frame IIRC.

6MT:

Auto:

Check the k-frame and see if the bolts are there. If so, you can use the factory mount locations and you can use the stock brackets to mount an Ingalls dampener. I doubt it though because the part numbers on the front crossmember(where the front mount is) between the auto and manuals are different.
