top speed on cl type s?
Trending Topics
There are no governors on Hondas based on speed of the vehicle. If anything, you hit the rev. limiter instead. You probably hit red line in 5th (or 6th) than hit some artificial governor-regulated speed set by Honda.
All Hondas these days are limited by drag in top speed. Governors are what's on BMW's and M-B's in the USDM. They can go faster but are electronically limited. Governors and rev. limiters are two different things, by the way.

There are actually software governors in our car though that limit speed.

Would the CL and/or TL be the first Hondas to have governors in them, then? And have you felt how the governor kicks in and how the car feels at the top speed?
And I wonder why there are governors in place. I'm guessing Honda didn't want to put Z-rated tires on the Type S models. But who knows?

hmmmm... I had a 95 4 Door accord LX V6 model and hit 137... doesn't sound right to me imho... I have a pic on my HD of a CL/TL going 150 MPH in 5th gear at 6,000 RPM on 1/4th tank of gas.
The numbers and results in the various mags change all the time (140, 147, 149, 150, drag limited, etc)..
The speedos and tachs – in the cars -- are generally optimistic...
The top speed testers have produced pictures with the CLS doing 150+ (on their speedo -- and it is not going to be dead on).
The car definitely has an electronic speed limiter and if not for that limiter would be able to exceed 149 MPH in “dead/still air”.
(Without the top-speed limiter, you would see a number of people coming here with tales of hitting 160MPH+ and given a 10-20MPH tail wind, it would be plausible... )
