Ok the other day i was on the i-95 in jersey... i caught a good straight away and decided to open it up.... 90-120 was ok... but after 120mph the car seemed to struggle and take a while to continue, i got it to about 130-135.... does anyone know where or how fast can these cars get up to?.... mines is completly stock, no intake, exhaust, or headers.... anyone know what a stock type s can get up to?

I believe the limiter will kick in at about 147 to 150.

The 6spds are electronically limited to 149 mph (or so)... The auto's top out at 147 (or so).

I don't think it's a coincidence that the CL is outfitted with V rated tires are rated for up to 149 mph

 

Can I ask, why does everyone say that the CL dies with top speed. I know 4th gear is long, but my car is fine from 60MPH - up to whatever I choose... I don't got a ton of mods, but is it possible that 4th gear is slightly different in each car since the autos shift based on what the ECU tells it.

I have no idea, I am just speculating... My car just doesn't feel as slow as everyone says when I am in 4th gear. I beat a mustang the other day from 70-120 without a problem, I had about 1 car on it at 120, and I know it was a 99 GT.

Alot of cars are aerodynamically limited, so they'll never acheive the (theoretical) mechanical limits

 

yeah 4th gear is pretty strong...but have you ever pushed it through 5th? then you might see what were talkin about.

I did 225 km/h (140mph) a few days ago and for sho i noticed that the car bogged down in the 5th, specially compared to the fourth gear.

She is bone stock..

Well what speed can our cars go in each gear, cant you go up to about 90 in 3rd gear. Wouldnt you be able to go atleast 120 in 4th. Much more than that, why does it really even matter?? If you having a hard time going in 5th, just make sure you have a nice downhill slope when your trying to push it. Thats the only time a cavalier will race me.....

 

What type of wheels and what color CL?

 

its the 01 type s wheels, i did the inserts in metallic graphite (gark grey with a little glitter)
it made the wheels look 1000x's better.... i see the regular 01 style, and they look chunky compared to mines...

yea i had a 2000 gsr, i only had it for like 8 months... it got stolen after i painted it, i had just put the carbon fiber hood and type r lip... and new hids...
i swear i wanna murder the person that stole it... its my fault though, i had all that and no alarm...

my car is silver, it has 35% tints all around, it looks clean.....

damn that blows...i also had a 2000 GSR all the bolt ons, vtec controller, lowered...yeah i racked up 10 tickets with it. so with that insurance... i was forced to sell it. god im an idiot

 

luckily i only got pulled over once with that one... but with my 1991 integra it was like every other week lol
so now i had to get "serious" and get a "grown up" car

 

Is it possible to "take off" the electronic control that limits a CL-S to a top end of 147-149MPH? If so, has anyone done this and what is the top end? If it isn't possible and/or no one has done it what do you think the top end would be?

 

Get headers.

3rd gear tops out at about 109mph.....a shift to 4th leaves you in a dead zone til about 120~...it then pulls hard until about 135...and after that...the car goes faster but is pretty anemic....

FYI....I dreamt I got to 149mph on a stretch of I-5 leaving LA...at 1am....

i have the satin silver metallic... it looks real good together, i think it would look real hot on the athricite...
im not done with them yet though...
