Hey, the new F-150 looks like a tough truck with an excellent interior! Wonder how the reliability will be. Who wants a "tough" truck that is unreliable?

Just thought I'd throw that in since I took a trip to some rural Georgia places and 2004 F-150s is all I see.

That would make sense.

You gotta have something to pull your house with when you're running from a tornado, the law, etc...

I would be forced to say VERY RELIABLE, since the top three trucks have been the top selling auto's the past decades and will probrably always be in the top three.

That doesn't mean it's VERY RELIABLE. The Ford F-150 hasn't been bulletproof reliable, as say the Toyota 4Runner. I've been hearing a lot of things about the new F-150 and how well it is built. Ford better get it right this time.

I think the Ford F-series truck has been the top selling vehicle for quite a few years, and the Chevy Silverado truck is second highest. Not positive though. I thought the numbers were totally fucked up until I moved to Texas.

EVERYONE down here drives a truck. "Cars are for girls." Quote when I told a girl what I drove at a bar one night here.

People, these are the top selling motor vehicles in the states so far this year. This list wont change much when the final numbers are in. In fact go back ten years and its pretty much the same. Trucks will always out sell cars, and the Toyota truck will never be on the list, and neither will Acura. Too bad... aaah so

If this is a forum for Acuras, then why do you have an Alfa Romeo logo under your name?

One thing to remember here is that this does not specify personal or commercial use. Many of the trucks sold are being used for work. Nearly all of the cars listed are for personal use.

He was not talking about best sellers. He was talking about reliable trucks. You can't beat the reliability of a Toyota 4Runner. Now if Ford trucks were as reliable as a 4Runner, it would mean something. Who cares if it is the best seller? Tough work truck = has to be reliable.

Looks like Nissan is taking a very serious interest in the pickup truck market segment:

and with a 5.6L DOHC V8 pumping out 300hp and 375lb-ft (not to mention a 9,400 towing capacity) looks like Nissan is throwing down the gauntlet.

Peace.

i don't understand why ford taurus is still on the list.. taurus should've been extincted long time ago.

a truck is a big deal in down south. or all redneck states. i grew up in south carolina, and many kids get more excited by trucks than any other cars. of course people buy these trucks because it is handy, but to whitefolks trucks are like M3. when i stayed in kentucky for awhile, all i see is trucks and american cars. i rarely saw german cars or even japanese cars.

and one of my close friend in SC just spent $35k to buy a truck.

What a genius...

Main Entry: automobile
Function: noun
Date: circa 1889
: a usually four-wheeled automotive vehicle designed for passenger transportation

Main Entry: pick•up
Pronunciation: 'pik-"&p
Function: noun
Date: 1848
5 : a light truck having an enclosed cab and an open body with low sides and tailgate -- called also pickup truck

Automobile is synonymous with car; a truck is not. You attempt to convey your opinions but come across as a complete fool. Why would you choose to expose your blatant stupidity??

Main Entry: car
Pronunciation: 'kär, dial also 'kor, 'kyär
Function: noun
1 : a vehicle moving on wheels: c : AUTOMOBILE

According to Webster an automobile and car are one and the same; a truck has a completely different definition. Or is your concept of the English language greater than one of the accepted standard sources??

But regardless, what is the point?? That trucks sell well; of course they do as there is a wide range of use. This is an automotive forum; not a truck forum. Limit the list to just "cars" and then what do we have; a bunch of fairly boring vehicles that are a fairly good value.

I assume your point was to show that domestics are selling well. But we purchase vehicles for ourselves; not for fleet employment. As such the numbers should be a reflection of the focus group. If this same list was presented to a group of construction fleet managers I would suggest removing all passenger vehicles as they would be irrelevant to the focus group.

Did you also realize that of the passenger vehicles on the list that all are entry level?? None are near luxury or luxury vehicles. Those always sell in lower numbers and it should be obvious as to why.
