Took down a Mark VIII

Yeah I know, big freakin deal. But its january and I havent raced anything in over 3 months, so its nice to have a quick run.

On I-75 I was messing with a 93-96 Mark 8. He was pacing me so I took off because I was annoyed he was right next to me. I let off a half mile or so after I made my point and a couple minutes later he comes back up. He started pacing me again and I knew he would probably try to take off since I had earlier. I put it into 4th just incase he wanted to go, and as soon as I did that he took off. He put about a car length on me before I had it floored, but by the time he let off (around 110mph or so, I'd guess) I had probably 4-5 car lenths on him. As soon as I got above 5k it was ALL OVER. I walked by pretty bad.

Anyways, this story was completely fictious and I never drive fast in either of my cars.

BTW those yrs Lincolns have 280hp/290tq, with the DOHC 4.6L

Joe. we're assuming you did this in the CL unless you say otherwise. that's Ford's 4.6L V8 also used for Mustang GTs like yours, right?

the icebox isn't much but lightweight wheels and especially the drag radials help. and the most important probably is his track experience. it always comes into account.

This was in my CL-S (why else would I post it here lol)

The 4.6L in the Mark 8 was the DOHC with 280hp/290 tq. The GT mustang engine (from 96-04 anyways) is the SOHC design with 215hp/285tq (94-98) and 260hp/300tq (99-04). They really dont share a whole lot at all, just displacement. Even the blocks are different.

BTW my 94 GT is a 5.0L, the SN95 bodystyle didnt get the 4.6L (...cough...lame...cough) until 1996.

And best to my knowledge the 14.0 isnt 'fictitious'. Like previously mentioned I have an icebox, lightweight wheels up front, drag radials, and about 250 drag racing passes in my mustang under my belt. Plus it was a perfect day for racing and I made a nice pass. Check in the sanctioned racing forum, I'm sure the thread is back there somewhere.
