Tommy020 scamed me?!
ok so I didn't wanna have to do this but in the past year 1/2 ive been totally screwed 3 times while buying car parts... in the beginning of 05 i got screwed out of half of my money on a supercharger...(ebay) but 2 diff. members on the forum have screwed me as well... the 1st was last summer when i had gotten a cusco strut bar... sent payment and never got anything.. member played dumb after 1 month of no shipment of item saying that he had no clue what i was talking about. NOW the member Tommy020 had sold me the Thermoblock spacers... I sent the payment via money order, he said that he had recieved it and all... I have been waiting over a month 1/2 now and he ignors my p/m's and yes I do see that he signs on! I'M REALLY PISSED ABOUT THIS SO THIS IS ME VENTING AND HOPEFULLY ILL BE GETTING MY SHIT SOON!!! sorry i dont like diming people out at all but this is rediculous!

If you paid through paypal. They have some kind of guarantee I think. The person will have to provide a tracking number to ensure that they actually sent something. All these big payment companies have some kind of guarantee.

I don't know... I lost the most $$ with the 1st charger I went to buy.. I even did my own detective work by bringing the cell phone # to my boys cell shop and tracing it back.. I even gave the poliece the exact adress and name, but yet they still gave me shit saying how long it would take and they prob couldn't do anything about it blah blah.. but yet THEY NEVER HAVE ANY PROBLEMS PULLING US ALL OVER FOR TINT!

I dont understand, If I was going to rip off someone, it would be for more than $90 bucks for the price of Spacers. I just don't see the benefit of him doin this for such a small amount with such a paper trail for him to get caught....

im not sure about the rules in Black market but i would think if you can prove tommy offered to sell you something through this board and that you fullfilled youre end and he did not ,i would think it would result in a permanant BAN... little consulation im sure but atleast noone else might fall victim.
looking at the similar threads link at the bottom of this page im on of them...just as an update to anyone that chooses to read i did get complete coopertaion from the seller ,he had an eclipse and was sold these as 5/114.3/+45 it' s a shame because they were mint with brand new T1-S 235/40/18's i held them for about 2 weeks until he found a new buyer which he then paid for me to ship to that person...with the exception of not getting the wheel i truly loved it was painless...in heinsight i would have never gotten my 13.3 with the 18's

Yea banning someone only works untill they make up a new name or something... It just goes to show that you really can't trust some people.. i mean iv'e met some of the most chill people on here at the meets ect. and cant understand why that kinda shit still happenes.. esp. when people that scam have been on this board 4 a long time..

I will send tommy020 a PM and see if I can get some answers, and will let you know as I find things out.

Didn't something similar to this happen around the time I first became a member? I think it involved some member named "katana" or something?
Shady, scamming people suck! I know I've had issues with buying and selling things on here but at least I don't just ignore people. I can understand a snag from time to time and it's understandable but to completely ignore someone... Well, that's a whole different story.

to typeR: I get more of these problems than you would think, and usually work them out. I think I have banned a few people as a result of this, and also banned a few from the black market. It is not always easy to find out who did what to who, but if I can determine blame then I take the necessary action.
Will know more when I get a reply from tommy020. He's been in the forums today, but hasn't posted since April 19, 2006.

He replied to my email with this: don't worry, he will get his spacers 100%.No scam here.
I sent him another email asking for more information. That wasn't much of a reply. I also asked him to clean out his PM box so he can get PM's.

to future proof anything like this happening you need to do a few things:
research the seller. ask for board references or ebay id or anything that shows he's legit.
use major credit card or paypal. never cash, money order, western union. keep tabs on how long it's been as you get a timeframe to file a complaint. if you miss this window, you're damn near sol.
pay extra for tracking #'s. ups automatically generates one for you with a package.
fedex does too i believe. usps is garbage. never use them
get as much personal info about them as you can. get them on the phone even so you can open a dialogue with them. try to collect more than 1 telephone #. a home address. perhaps a work address that you can verify.
after you've taken all these steps and you can not collect on the goods or your money, call the local police department in the sellers town. explain to them the situation and follow up with the department daily! i cant stress enough how important it is to light a fire under the police's ass but it needs to be done. they should act on the incident as any other theft or forgery case they deal with. continue to call them and keep track of officer names and badge #s. provide them with all the information you have and let them handle it from there. and again, if the detective doesnt call you back in a timely manner, call him/her!
lastly if all else fails. make the seller's information public. im on a mtorcycle board that has members all over the states and beyond. it's not unusual for them to all get together and dig the dirt up for you. one kid i remember from texas tried to pull a fast one on about 4 members. none of them got the parts. so a small group went to his house, took pics of the yard, his car, his house, his pool, and his big ass swimming in it. even had a few of his parents doing the hedges. they posted the pictures online and he found out about it and in less than a week everyone had their money back.
anonymity behind a computer screen only takes you so far if you're a scammer.
eventually the real world will catch up to you and when it does, it's gonna hurt. no lube
best of luck with tommy020
