Today's test drive: S2000

** sigh **

Anyone got a spare $32k lying around.....??

Scottsdale Acura has not one but two S2000's on their lot now. They just got a silver/red yesterday! It has 11k miles. I test drove the red one that's been there for at least a couple weeks. It's only got 1200 miles!!! Their asking price is actually fairly reasonable. The sales guy said it's "listed at $33,900, but can probably be had for $32,000." Which means it can definitely be had for $32K. Not a bad deal, IMHO... a practically brand new red/black S2K for $32K with no waiting.

Onto the review...

Wish I could tell you something new but the car is just as everyone says it is... a complete dog under 6k rpms, but grows progressively more powerful and louder above that. You can hear and feel the VTEC changeover at around 6k. Comparing it to the Miata I drove yesterday (I know... not a fair comparison), the S2000 is roomier, quieter, has a smoother ride and is MUCH faster. As the saying goes... you get what you pay for...

The Honda dealer across from my mothers house has had S2000's on the lot for months now that havent sold.

They now have... 2 yellow, 2 silver, 1 black, 1 red.

That dealer is willing to negotiate below MSRP now.

And this is just 1 of the 13 Honda dealers in the area. And its the largest and most popular.

Some of the smaller guys would prolly be willing to sell this thing for not much over invoice.

Wow... that's surprising. I haven't been following their prices for awhile. Good to know things are softening a bit. I've never seen one parked out front like it's for sale at the two dealers here in Phoenix that I drive by often. Not sure about the other 5 Honda dealers. Hmmmm...

My buddy has the SC installed. Hopefully I'll get a ride tomorrow...wonder if he'd let me drive it again??
