TL-S vs. CL-S ???

Hi Guys - after falling in love with the seats in the new TL-S and the fantastic look of the rear end (otherwise it was just like a CL-S but with 4 doors!) I am now thinking about getting the TL-S rather than the CL-S (Aegean blue no matter what). But I am reallly a coupe person and have never owned a 4 door (am single with a Wheaten terrier, Rusty). So my question for people is - is it crazy to consider the TL-S for these relatively minor differences or do I go coupe - a much bigger difference?? Any ideas (remember, I don't have kids and hardly ever use the back seats so the 4 doors don't really matter and I prefer a sporty look). The other car I considered, actually, was a blue Audi TT quatro!!!

Thanks, Rustito

If you prefer the look of the TL-S...get the TL-S. Is the $2000 difference worth it? Maybe...but then again you do get smaller mirrors...

Not worth it for the extra doors if you don't need them.

If you are into coupes, and like the looks of the CL get that. If you really like how the seats are in the TL, and it looks better to you, you might want to consider the TL. I personally would go with whichever one appealed to me more.

I actually like the seat in the CLS better than the TLS. They're a little sportier (could use more side bolster though). I'm single and I have no use for the extra 2 doors that's why I got the CLS. But then again, if you are single the extra space that the TLS offers could come in handy. Someone on the board was complaining about the cramped space in the CLS.
If you're a coupe person, get the CLS. I also considered the TT. I didn't think it was worth the money. Plus it being based on the Beetle platform kind of bothered me.

Get the CL. It comes with 17' tires stock. Plus, its unique, as opposed to driving 'just another TL' with a Type S badge on it.

Well, I had sort of the same dilemma, but I decided that the 4-door would be more practical since I travel for business and I'm getting married next year. Basically the TL-S is a 4-door CL-S.... so the differences besides the door are really minimal. Plus, the Aegean blue is kind of rare (now, anyway) as I have yet to see another one on the road. A guy I work with has one, but other then that, I haven't seen any around. Oh and BTW... the TL-S comes with everything the CL-S has, including the 17" rims, so the only real decision is how many doors do you want!!

Now Rumor has it (just a rumor now) that the '02 CL will have the TLS front fascia and TL style lights. As for the seats, I love the CL seats as in comfort and huggability. You will almost never notice the preforations unless you keep looking at the seat while your driving or have eyes on your @$$. Yeah the TLS is nice but, the CL is a damn fine car. For the Extra 2G you can definatly get the Navi. JMO

Go with what you like -- they are both nice cars, and would probably get the TLS for my wife...

I happen to like both...

Something else to consider- do you want to add an underbody kit? The TL-S looks fantastic with it and it is not available as of yet for the CL. On the other hand- the deals are really, really good now on the CL-s and its hard to get a TL-S right now.

He'll be happy with either car. I know I would be.
