Hey, anybody know what paints i should use to smoke the tail lights on my cl....or if you know how i should do the complete process?

i'm thinking, clean them real good, wipe down with alchol, then paint with smoked color, and clear coat.

am i right?

 

That sounds about right, but before you do all that make sure it's not illegal in your area. It would suck to get pulled over & have to take it all off. A friend of mine did it to his Civic and got 2 tickets within 3 months of having it. Finally he decided to remove the paint, but it left nasty looking haze over his tailights.

 

03 Tail light ownZ!!! Why would you want to mess with a nice setup of lights like that??

 

I'm not tinting the entire tail light...just the lower red part. I saw it done on a 7 series bmw and it looked awesome. The bimmer also had black wheels...i want that nightrider look. I think I can pull it off. when i finish I'll post pics, and if too many people think it looks :ghey: or or I don't like it myself, Ill return it to normal

 

How bout I trade you my 01's and you tint the whole sha-bang?

I would like to tint my tail lights a bit too...the equivalent of 20-30% tint or something. They look so...bright...on a black car. I can't imagine that painting them would make it look uniformly darker though. I'd be afraid of drips or something like that...do they make tint that would work OUTSIDE the car or would it just get beaten up too quickly?

 

all u gotta do is go to a hobby store where they sell the rc race cars and airplanes and stiff and buy the smoke or tint paint
