What is a good place to tint your windows in the Fairfax/Tysons Corner area? I have heard of California Tinting and just found a Tommy's Tinting in Fairfax. Either any good? Anyone know of a better one? How much should i pay for everything but the front windshield? Thanks

i just got my cl-s tinted last week at cali tint in tysons. i got 20% all around for $190. call them and confirm a price first, cuz when i showed up they said it was $230, but i said hell no, u quoted me $190 on the phone. he agreed. they did a good job, but didnt tint over the dot matrix on back. its funny u mentioned tommys tint, ccuz my receipt from cali tint says tommy tint on it. maybe they both are owned by the same ppl. i dunno.

 

I think im going to get mine done at Cali Tint also. What brand tint did you get?

Like 4 years ago Tommy tint use to come to your house and tint it right there but there quality started to get pretty bad so they stopped doing that and started to loose more bussiness to cali and la tint.

Both cali and la tint are good but I like Cali. if u do go to cali, they won't tint the top dot matrix in the rear mirror.

Nova, what did you pay for your tint job? Also why didn't you get 20% all around (I know its not legal on the fronts, but it seems like lots of people are getting it without a problem)

 

Originally I had 20% all around, after having it for about 3 days I realized it was too dark. Not for me but, to get pulled over. I also had a friend who's dad works in Fairfax county police, and he even told me only 2 cops have the tint measuring thing w/ them in the car. I also go down to JMU alot 1 1/2 drive down 66 and 81 where State troopers are just waiting to pull someone over. (SleeperS) got ticketed for this btw. along w/ his speeding ticket.
And also the 20% looked so much better but also made it look much darker than it really is w/ my white paint. another reason was becaue I had my cousin get pulled over w/ me in the car 3 years ago going to kingsdominion. and basically the cop came, asked her to roll down her window and measured the tint.

BAMM

3 tickets
1 for speeding,
1 for tint
and 1 for not having her licence w/ her.

I already catch enough attention being young, asain, driving a good car, and didn't really want to get any more tickets.

But 20% does look much better.

the brand i got is called onyx or something like that. it is black metallic. no probs w/navi yet. they did it pretty quick too, within an hour or so. but i was the only car there. the place looks kinda shady, but i think they are legit.

 

have u guys tried testing ur actuator? check here if u dont know what i'm talking about...

my car has been seeming kinda sluggish. i hope i dont have a prob w/actuator.

 

yup tested it 4 weeks ago had my dad rev it up and saw my actuator move. reason being, heard some people having actuator problems after getting headers.

Hrmmm... Yah I hear you. I guess tint isn't really worth drawing even more attention to your car. I really want an equal number all around. Would 35% all around look stupid?

minla007: about the actuator, yah I checked that a while back one day when I was bored. Mine is working fine... its really easy to check if you have two people.

 

Well I am gettin my car tinted with 35% mirror tint from a place in Kensington, MD for $129 since I am bringing 6 people to them, Its called National Glass and Tinting. Most places charge more for mirror, but these guys don't and I got my previous cars tinted by them too, and they did a great job, no bubbles, fading or peeling, and it's lifetime warranty too. I should have the tint on in the next week or so.

i'll have to check it tonite (actuator). is it really noticeable to see the valve pop open? just curious.

also, i dont think 35% will look stupid. just depends on how dark u want it to look during day time. at night, all the tint looks the same. i'm not sure, but maybe they can do something in between 20-35%. check with them. i went w/20% cuz thats what i had on my old honda and i liked it.
