Tint Pictures, 20%

Alright, heres the pictures of my 20% llumar tinting from 2 days ago. Everything looks nice, but check out the dot matrix part, it looks bad as hell. Give me ur opinions if the water will ever evaporate, or if thats not even the problem.

“the dots”

Most, but not all of that discoloration should go away after a few day’s but you’re gonna have to wait and see.
I would think FLORIDA tinters if anyone should know what they’re doing since they do so many cars.

Give the dots a week to dry if they don't improve take it back and tell them that you want the tint trimmed to below the "dots", which is what should have been done in the first place. Even if the look improves you stand a greater chance of the tint peeling off the "dots" later down the road.

here's pics of my tint from the day it was done:

tint pics

Notice how the dot matrix has little to no problems (and most if not all problems I saw on the first day went away after a week)? It looks pretty much normal ... no waves like in your pics. Sounds like to me the tinter didn't know what he was doing and messed up the dot matrix area. It might dry in a week tho... I just know mine didn't look like that after I had it done.

The person who did mine though came recommended from quite a few other TL owners who had their dot matrix tinted and said he did a great job.

I have a feeling it wont go away. That is pretty dissapointing, how do I approach my tinter, and what steps do I take from here, Im giving it 2 weeks, but if it looks the same I need to talk to the tinter. What options will I have?

Other options - they can sand down the matrix for a better stick.
They can apply black paint to the matrix and black it out.
Mine tinted matrix looks ok but I don't think long term it will stick as good as on the clean glass. Lifetime warranty.

http://www.tintdude.com/dot-matrix.html

I had the black vinyl at first, but the installer left a piece of backing on, took it back to get redone. Then they put 20% over the dots and it looked like ass. then the shop went outta business so i'm outta luck.

From reading the descriptions about installing the Vinyl i think i'm going to give it a shot myself. It really did look good and I with i never had them mess with it.

I never knew where people bought the vinyl from sign shops...

anyone know where to but the crap online?

im screwed , How does the back window look if he removes the tint from the dot matrix aread by cutting that part off. Will it looks too light compared with the 20% tint on the back. I didnt know this was gonna be more of a concern than enjoyment.

I had my Prelude done and it looked mint...no weird dipple like that since Honda didn't bother with that in the window. The same guy tined my CLS and he worried over the dimples (he assumed I'd freak). Mine kinda did the same thing but not as bad as yours. I have circles still in the dimples but all of the "flat" part is stuck. I don't think that I want them to cut it so I have put up with it. If I take a pic from the bumper then you probably wouldn't see it. Your car...you KNOW it is there. I got cut a deal on both cars and the rest of the car is MINT.

Ramble....

If you aren't happy then complain! Seriously. You worked hard for that tint!

Your car looks really good with the tint. You'll get the dot's worked out.

if he removes the tint from the matrix part, it will actually look really good from outside, but it looks kinda weird from inside.

I think that is going to need to be done. Then try one of the ideas from that link i posted earlier. I'm going to try to apply the vlack vinyl myself. I just order 10 yards of the crap so if it works out i'll send you some.

I have 20% on the back and LOVE it. I DO have silver circles in some of the Acura tinty stuff. It isn't perfect. It isn't bad. think of it this way...the black of the Acura tint is much darker than 30% or 20%. You won't look pimped even if you stop at the dimples. Personally, I say go for it...my place (a BMW place) realized that they can't make a good seal and said wait and see. Best of both worlds. They would have changed it. Your place may too. I bet it is short and sweet to change.

I didn't have the dots tinted on the 02 I had. I hated the way it looked. I have 15% so having a big strip of nothing at the top of the rear window didn't look great. That's why I had the 03 tinted. It doesn't look bad at all after a few months. No one I have meet, or any of my friends has even made a comment about the dots. I think it looks fine on your car, i'd just live with it, & forget it.

Took it back to the tinter for the dot matrix cuz it looks like shit. He tried to fix it, and then said "no one" can do it pefect and that all cl and tl look like mine, which is not true. I basically told him that he should of told me while he was working on it, since i was there the whole tiime. I then said I expected it to be done correctly, or i expect my money back, because the lifetime guarentee he has specifically says no bubbles. The guy basically didnt know what to say or do, and so he kicked me out. I told him how unproffesional he was and my dad called him and is gonna pretend he is an attorney and threaten to take him to small claims court. It sucks not to have a more professional place to get it done at, i wont make that mistake again. The extra $20 would of been worth it!

i did the same thing recently. i got my ride tinted and i payed for the vinyl for the dots. but when i went to pick it up, the tinter tinted over the dots. he said to give it 3 weeks and if it doesnt look good, then they'll vinyl it. so i went to the guy who sold me it and he said the tinters do that cuz its easier to tint over everything. he also said it looks like ass and never works. so next week im bringing my car back so they can take the tint off the dots and put the vinyl i paid for back there.

I dunno guys, I have the tiny dotting too, which pissed me off initially, but it's very common. I can't notice it unless I want look very close. I don't see a reason to bitch about it, I'm happy with my tint. I wouldn't want vinyl there, I saw other cars at my tinter with it and it looked ass. Stick with what you have.
