Timing Belt

I have 01 cl s type
I lost the manual
I think it says 60K
Can anyone confirm?

And would it be bad to wait till it just breaks?
Will it really ruin the engine or is that a myth?
I really dont know of anyone personally who it broke and cause a problem.

Its so expensive. On my last Acura I changed it when it said too and the belt look in great condition!
Basically a total waste.

Many posts on this,. I changed mine at 150k miles and it still looked brand new both the belt and pump.

But the manual says 105k miles, that is the recommended timing belt service interval.

yeah bro, i did mine at 110k, i bet i had another 100k out of it. looked new. however you dont want that bitch to break on ya, and throw your timing off..
a broken belt can result in an open valve being struck by a moving piston. this can damage valves, pistons, cylinder heads, and cylinder walls.
go to pepboys or something to have it inspected for cracks if you dont feel comfortable doing it yourself..

You're tellin me.. I just ordered all the parts for the service that a Honda mechanic will do in his driveway..

I'm having the TBelt, accessory belts, h20 pump, all seals, that come with it, valve adjustment, and the rear main all replaced for $1000 total. This includes parts.

105K...

Links to online owners manual and the maintenance schedule are in the FAQ forum here:

Our engines are interference engines, so if the timing belt breaks there's a chance the valves will hit the pistons...

I got quoted around 500-600 buck from an independent shop for timing belt/water pump replacement (dealer is around 1000-1200) so it's cheap insurance in my mind

I changed my timing belt with my water pump and all the other fun stuff down there at 130K miles.

The timing belt looked decent and probably could've survived longer but its not worth it to put it off.

My dad's cousins shop just had a CL-S with a broken timing belt. It destroyed the valves and cost $4100 to fix. It may last longer then 105k but I wouldn't risk it.
