time for a new car.
time for a new car.
now that a used 99TL is so fucking cheap it seems EVERY SINGLE FUCKING KID IN THE WORLD HAS ONE.
fuck.
we dont have extremely expensive cars to begin with... but i always like how not just any ol highschool or college punk (my age group) could get one.
but now, everyone I fucking know has a TL or CL and their in school. Meanwhile I work my ass off for it.
fuck this shit...

im 20.
i had a TL at 17, a CLS at 18, and then got a new CLS at 19.
now EVERYONE has them.
I know 6 people under 21 with NEW TL's and CL's
that doesnt include all the peeps i know with legends, vigors, and old tl/cls
its irritating...
the reason i liked these cars in the first place is NOBODY had them like BMW/Lexus.

so im guessing now u have an 03' cls? i have a 02', its kinda annoying cuz my parents are annoyed when i try and do something to the car, i had 2 12's in the car then i had to take em out cuz they didn't like em, now im working on getting a tint, but they hate dark tints, the best i could get is probably 40%! well maybe 35 if i talk em into it
I know what you mean soopa. I am always seeing more and more cl & tl with temp tags on them. My buddy from high school just got a tls a month ago. It must be the Acura Style Mag. that making everyone go buy one.

Nothing against you soopa, but when I was 17 I was driving around in a 85 sentra wagon.
Sorry my heart doesn't go out to you . :P
I wish I had your problems. But hey if u got it then work it, don't whine about it.

When I was in high school, there were plenty of kids getting BMW's. It's so common around here. But Soopa is right about the Acura's. There were a bunch of people driving TL's, in my high school. The best we can do is try to make out cars stand out.

Youngins these days have it so sweet...
My wife makes fun of my CL as a woman's car
:P, cause we mostly see prof. women in their mid 30s in CLs in our area.
man you had it nice my first car was 88 Accord LXi but when we sold that my current car was my mom's old car(the 94 Honda Accord) so before her new Odysee came in I sold my old Accord and she was still driving what now is my car so I was stuck with "the war wagon"(1985 3/4 ton Dodge Van) painted yellowish cream color. I had to drive that for about 6 months before the Odyesee came in. I was NEVER so happy once the Odyesee came in.
what's even worst was this happened my senior year so usually the seniors have the "coolest cars" so even the under classmen were ragging on me about "the war wagon" hey they knocked it but it had a queen bed in the back.
then we sold "the war wagon" on the agreement that the guy buying it picks it up after the odyesee comes in

WELL REGARDLESS...
IM WORKING FOR IT.
I bet yall werent working like I do at 17-20 either.
Its still fucking iritating...
and Jesal... as much as I like BMWs... their just as bad, and even worse in larger cities. I know 10 people under 22 with 5-series, 3-series, and M3's...
Theres this one club where alot of peeps I know hang out... its fucking sickening at night cuz they all park out front and the street is lined with bimmers with rims.
and now Acuras are becoming the same way.

If your purpose of owning a vehicle is to have something unique, the only way to accomplish that is to get a very expensive vehicle or own a limited production, hard to obtain type (possibly a classic). I don't get vehicles to be unique, just kind of ends up that way. My HD truck is rather unique. And everyone and their dog owns a Harley but you don't see classic Honda Dreams, 750's, Triumphs, or Nortons on the road. Consequently when I got to bike week, the Harley stays at home and one of the others come out, that's unique.
Either mod it such to make it standout, buy a classic car, get an NSX, or don't sweat it.

I see under 21 year olds all the time around here driving the bimmers, mb, etc. It doesn't phase me one bit because I know most if not ALL of them don't own the car, and they're driving their parents ride.
I'll try to moderate my thoughts on soopa and his 'dilemma'. Seems due to immaturity and I wonder how a student can afford $20k-$30k cars. If it's all your own money then I applaud you. Maybe trade up to a Yugo or a Pinto, most of those are in the junkyard and off the streets. I mean really, count your blessings and realize it's your self that is important not the car you drive.
I live in an area near a large university and it's sick to see some of the frats and sors in their M3s and MBs who do not know the value of money or seem to care about other people's property either. I'm glad I could pay for what I have (for cash too) and I like seeing other Legend Coupes on the road. I hope soopa finds a car that satisfies him. I agree the CL dated quickly but I always will favor Acura coupes. Can't wait to see what Acura brings out next in a coupe, been waiting for something really special since 1995.

Well the typical "guy/car enthusiast" gets new cars after like 3 years. Isn't that what leasing is for? Get sometihng new every 3 years?
Guys are like little kids with their toys when it comes to cars. They get sick of it and want a new one. Same goes for our women..shit just gets boring as hell after a while. Isn't that why men even in their 40's cheat on their wives?? lol Some are priveledged to ask daddy for a new toy and other 20 year olds are making enough money these days to buy Benz's.
I had a 3000gt at 17..bought with my own money, but modding that car was too expensive. Wanted a bit more luxury so here's the CL. I'm sick of modding it...
New technology calls for new toys. A new business venture is getting under way and I have to upgrade to relieve the boredom. ANd its nice to get something no one else has really..keeps the boredom away for just a bit longer.
But its a fact of life ...CARS GET BORRRRINGG!!!!

That's impressive that you have what you have at 20 years old, What kind of work do you do? When I was 20 (back in 1995) I was only driving an Integra GS-R (man, you want to talk about everyone having the same car)
. You should be proud of your achievements & enjoy your car instead of getting pissed at other people for having the same car. Plus, your car stands out more than the average CL-S anyway.
If you are still making payments you should direct your $$$ towards paying off your car instead of getting another car and putting yourself deeper in debt. I paid off my car about 2 months ago & it feels so good not to have any payments. Even if I see some young kid in the same car, I know it's probably not paid for.
In Closing: Anyone can lease a 30K car & make the payments (especially if they have no other bills and live with their parents) or even have their parents make payments for them, but few 17-20 yr olds can have a $30K car paid in full...
Something for you to  about.
DISCLAIMER: No offense to anyone in the above situation, it is just an example.
I never even figured you'll be like this Soopa. You always came across as someone who didn't really care...has a nice clean ride and just pimped it with no cares. As far as Acuras becoming common, it's no big deals...fads happen, car manufactures get popular for awhile and then another brand is popular. Should be happy that Acura is doing well...they do well then we benefit hopefully with better cars and better service. You've been a lucky person in life, even if you work your ass off...appreciate that you had that opportunity. I have friends who work really hard and all they're money disappears to bills and rent payment, they can't even afford to get a nice and decent car. Then again I see some young ass kids who are flosing AMGs and BMWs...it might not seem fair, but oh well. Life is what you make of it right?
I typically dont care and im very happy with my car.
It is just irritating that Ive been working to pay this car off meanwhile all these kiddies are bitin now.
Cant even make the car look unique cuz as soon as I do something they all do the same...
Was just venting is all.
Amir, yes my next car could very well be german, the two most appealing potentials are the next S4 or the next TT.
anyway, aint no thang.... just irritating as all hell.
came to fruition after two kids I know showed up at a local show this weekend with 99-01 TL's with rims. just outta nowhere...
then again, been there done that and had it in 99. but still... irritating.

but... the main reason i dont, i have limited self control... and tests the limits of everything.
being as i have no experience on a bike im sure i would have some hard lessons to learn on it my first few years.
on top of certain death... im in no rush to put a second loan in my name. figure i should put that money towards building equity in the car rather then paying the interest on a bike.
one thing i can say about myself that i cant about all the other kiddies rocking my car is that i have no debt other then the car.
most other people i know are living off credit cards cuz all their cash is for the ride.
Agree
I'm with you Soopa....I Just turned 23. the insurance premium and car payments I pay on my own, also plus my utilities such as rent, food, payment bills, and etc. so basically I'm independent. Yeah I know how you feel soopa, sometimes it gets irritated when you see little rich ass punk kids, brag about paying off their cars (which I know its not even true, because you know that their parents really brought the car). But hey we work hard for our cars and thats the dignity of it. I consider us lucky
of having an opportunity to afford a CL-S.

Soopa........
When I turned 16 my first car was a 1991 Accord (I think I see a trend on this forum with old accords) I had been working since I was 13 and I got the first car as a gift so I didn't have to fork over my cash for it(i was lucky there) I've been working very hard since I was 13 and a couple months ago I purchased my '01 CL cash (btw, I'm 19 soon to be 20). But, I do agree there are a lots of Acura's on the road, that is the main reason I went with a CL and not a TL as I had originally planned. Don't give up on us quite yet.

)soopa man just cause everyone has one doesn't mean you have to jump ship. when my dad bought his cycle 1990 Honda Goldwing it was a extra 1000 bucks for this color called Wineberry(the reason it's extra is cause it's hard to paint cause if you don't hit it just right it will "shadow" and if you don't hit it with enough it looks crappy) so he got this paint job (which looks sweet) thinking no one else would have it(cause 1000 bucks for a bike is a pretty good chunk of change for a paint job)but he went to the Honda Homecoming Rally last month and grant it there was other bikes but he still get compliments on it.
The point I'm trying to make is you can buy almost any car in the world(CL,TL,Accord,Z car,Supra, Benz ,ISLOW 300
) if you look hard enough someone is going to "mock your car"weither it be a dead on duplication or a part here and there. Personally I take it as a compliment because if the car owner think your stuff is "hot"(like rims) then they think you have good taste man

think of how you would feel if you had a beemer, or if the cl actually was a hot seller and acura met there target sales? one of the reasons i love my car so much is because it is unique and not to many people have them. but it is a double edged sord. we dont want every joe on the street in our cars yet we complain when acura thinks of discontinuing the cl.
So why not just bling your car out more? If I had the dough, I'd go that route to make my whip more unique. I feel you in seeing lots of people with the same car as you. Its not like a vainity thing, you just wanna feel different than everyone else, and when someone takes that away from you, its not cool. I say be content for now. My goal is to finish the year or year and a half of school, work hard, and put a down payment on a house. Fuck that, my CL is a nice classy car, it suits me fine. Someone said, you should buy a bike. Do it! Thats what I did a year to the day after I bought my CL.... at 19 years old. It satisfies your need for something new (and faster). I was also 18 (i'm 20 now) when I bought my CL.... it feels good to say that, but I also wanna say I have a house at the age of 22 or 23. Now that would be mad props..... Takin some chick to your HOUSE instead of an apartment
Screw them all, just worry about yourself. You're the one that drives it, so as long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. I'm 28 now and just got my CL-S last month because some lady totalled my '98 GSR which I bought when I was 24/25. I drove an '86 Sunbird in high school (1991) (which I shared with my brother) and then an '86 Pathfinder (1992) for 1 year while my brother was in college. During my last 2 years in college, my folks were gracious enough to let me drive their '91 Maxima (1995-1996). After graduation, I kept the Maxima and started out on my first job. In '98, I bought the GSR w/ my hard earned cash and w/ the settlement and some other savings, I was able to put a nice chunk down on my '03 CL-S. These kids who cruise around in their parents' nice cars do make me sick, but who cares. Once they are out on their own, hopefully they learn the value of a dollar. I probably would've settled on an Accord EX-V6 if I wasn't able to get the price I wanted on this 6 speed. For myself, I don't care too much to stand out in the crowd, just a nice car that's comfy and fun.
