ticket for tinted windows on '03 cl
I tinted my windows with 20% and got pulled over 2 times in the last week. I had a '01 for ~2 years and my '03 for 1 year and never got pulled over until a couple of weeks ago, twice.
When I got pulled over I had no front license plate, tinted windows and failed to show proof of liability, even though I have it.
The California court courtesy notice came yesterday and the bail is $814.75 and reduced to $666.00 with proof of correction.
Does anyone have any experience dealing with this? I am really confused, becuase I thought fix-it tickets were fixable and you would be charged a service fee, but even if I fix them they are charging me $221 per ticket as "administrative costs." Is this correct.
I have evidence of financial responsibility, will put on a front license plate, and ummm. remove the side tint, I guess. Has anyone ever dealt with this? Will appearing in court reduce my fine, because this fine seems a little STEEP.

oh crap, i've gotten pulled over for almost every kind of violation and never had to pay that much for just the ticket... but fee for lawyer is another story
i live in NY and tint ticket is just considered a fix-it, just like if you have white turn signals, etc etc, no cost at all, just fix it, but here they give you a form to fill out, if you don't want to fix it, it just costs liek 75$ to pay

If you didn't know now, CA has issued that tint and no front license plate is a primary offense ticket, meaning the charges are higher and a police officer can pull you over solely on those two items of your car.

It was implemeted when the law became amended in January 1999. Coming from my friend's father who is a former CHP, now an OC Sheriff, (I just spoke to him on the phone a few minutes ago about this thread) peace officers can pull you over anytime, anywhere, on or off duty, no matter what offense it is, criminal or moving violation (when off duty, it better be well worth it. An example of this is a few years ago, my friend's father issued a wreckless driving ticket to some guys at a gas station who he witnessed driving erractically down a busy street.)
