 New found respect for the Supra

So am about to Get onto GA 400N and a friend of mind laughs at a white supra cos it sounds like a honda civic with big exhausts. I warn my friend and tell him that the car can out run me. he still goes on to talk sh** and i tell him that if i start to speed he will come after me. After we pay the toll i floor the gas pedal in SS mode, bear in mind i have 3 passengers in my car. Am doing about 105 and just about to shift into 4th gear when this guy just moves up next to me and flies off like i wasnt even speedoing. I knew he would outrun me but i had no idea it was going to be that easy for him.

PS i spotted a black on black cls with what i think is comptech exhausts. I drive a white CL-P with a shaved rear. 17" volt racing wheels

the P stands for premium but really i dont think there is a difference between that and the base i think what might be it is the wood cos mine came with the wood kit standard. unlike the rest of the ugly interiors that only have it on the doors and sides of the gear.

Supra's can be extremely powerful. They can be made to handle high amounts of boost.

New found respect? Why would you ever not respect them? Supras are insanely fast and can easily run sub 10s w/ minimal mods and tuning.

P does stand for premium, but there are only two trims for the CL. P and S, so essentially, the clp is the base model.

And your friend is dumb. . Talking shit to a supra... Then again though, did you hear turbos spooling when it flew past you?

And in no way can a civic with big exhausts sound like a supra.

The civic with big exhauts was just an expression to mean that it sounded like all talk to him. But i could feel the power of the car as it passed me. one of my friends even said he saw him fish tail pulling out of the toll plaza.

You took the words right out of my mouth. With the right setup a Supra or an IS300 can be lethal...

The twin-turbo last-gen Supras were pretty damn fast straight off of the showroom floor. I seem to remember 0-60 times in the mid-4s.

Your friend's still dumb.

no offense but it's a much more complicated than that. Drop some big $$ for parts, labor and tuning if you want a Supra to run 9s or better. At least that's what I remember reading at supraforums.

more than likely low 5s which would put them at mid to low 13s stock.

Supra will run 12's for < $5K. 9's takes much $$ and a rebuilt motor, transmission etc.

The only modifications i could see on the supra was a body kit and a HID conversion

ok mr f&f

to run 10's.

you would need a big single, which isnt a minimal mod.

not to mention the traction that those high horsepower supras lack...

the entire engine, would need to be worked, the drive line strengthened, and suspension set up to drag race.

F&F??? WTF?

Dude, I said minimal......not inexpensive first off. Secondly, an upgrade to a bigger turbo head-unit isn't all that expensive (it's not like you need an entire turbo kit unless you're gonna go w/ a twin)....then you'd need a boost controlled/tuner/chip, a new down-pipe and a blow-off valve.....not to mention slicks to make it hook (which aren't expensive either). Big mods to me would be if you were adding the turbo kit to a n/a car, or a new tranny/clutch combo, or a new motor.

Plus, you don't even need to upgrade turbo necessarily, as I've seen many a supra run 10's w/ a 75 shot of n2o.

And whoever said they need to work the motor too, just has no clue and can believe whatever they want if it makes them feel better about their Acura.

Serious. Price inflated and the sales waned. A lot.
