for those who lowered there cl-s

just wondering the results of lowering your cars. i'm sure the handling has improved greatly since the car handles like a cruise ship with the stock suspension. what i'm concerned with is the rattling, if any, if the tires cambered out at all, and if the car rides any harder. just lemme know the kinda springs ya put in, and the result, thx.

Hey whats up okaze, i think I met you at the meet. I have the eiback sportlines and the car has been holding up great. There has been no noticeable rattling. The tires cambered a little in the front but i got the car aligned now its fine. I've had the car lowered for about 6,000 miles and there has been no uneven wear. The car rides the same as stock while cruising but when you hit a big bump or take a turn you could feel a definite change in the stiffness. Overall a great improvement, the best $150.00 I've spent on the car to date.

Do it but you should also get sways! The handling is drastically improved. It's not at all marginal but way way better. No roll! Again get the sways as they negate the effects of cruiseship roll more than the springs. Confidence inspiring and no more noise than stock. It's as quiet as stock. No doubt ride is stiffer but only noticeable (as mentioned) when traveling over bumpy or irregular surfaces. Watch out for tall curbs when you park front in. The handling is drastically improved, you'll say "I should have done this sooner." And the aggressive look to the car! Well you get the picture.

Acura mechanic who did my install and alignment (Jens) says that the only wheel that is cambered is my left rear. It's only .2% out of whack. Comptech now sells rear camber kits for 01 Type-S. I've noticed nothing about this but I know that camber kit would fix that problem.

Good luck

Like Al Uminum, I have Comptech springs and sways. The ride difference is barely noticeable, if at all, the handling is 10x better and the look is great. The Comptechs provide only a 1-1.25 inch drop so you don't have to worry too much about curbs. I have no rattles at all (at least none that resulted from the spring/sway install ). On my car, the springs are a bit creaky on cold mornings (well, a cold morning here is anything below 40 degrees ) but that goes away when the car warms up.

All in all... they should be considered mandatory aftermarket purchases

I would say get new shocks with the springs as well unless you get true coilovers.

AlUminium, When you took your car to Ramsey Acura, who many hours did they charge you and how much did it cost just for labor? According to a local dealer, they want to charge $500+$100 Spring Install/Alignment. Don't you think that is alot?

NO. I did not get them installed at Ramsey Acura. I got them installed at Park Avenue Acura in Maywood NJ. Just around the corner from the Garden State Plaza!
For the springs with the alignment, loaner car, and pretty good coffee the total was $296. The sways, Jens put them in and he got me a price of $74. Total including alignment and loaner was $370. I know this isn't what others claim to have paid, but it was by a qualified Acura dealer who provided a loaner along with their years of Acura experience. I'm fine with that price.

AluMinum, Thanks for the info, sorry I said Ramsey Acura, I meant to Park Ave Acura. I spoke to Peter today and I will soon have my springs installed with sways. Maybe we can meet up sometime.

Sounds good about meeting up but don't look away because those BBS just might turn back into the stock rims.

If you want your car done right at Park Avenue, call Peter back and ask him if Jens will work on your car. I'd think that Jens probably will anyways because thats his nature but, if he's not in that day, or if a new NSX comes in, well if you want it done right, you get the point.

Good luck you'll love it.

Tell me more about your wood kit. Pics?

AlUminum I have a guy in Cali that will custom dye any piece of plastic or wood to match interiors of cars. I sent a MDX Wood Steering Wheel to him to match the black burlwood in the car plus he also did the shifter. Sorry I can't post any pictures do to the fact of no digital camera. I hope to get one for B-Day from my wife.
