For those who haven't soldered their ESM

I'm still trying to figure out why my car has so much trouble starting when it's been sitting for a few hours or more. The thing takes 3-5 seconds of cranking to actually start and then it sounds like its drowning for about 20 seconds. Once the car has warmed up for about 1-2 minutes it acts as if nothing ever happened.

Anyway, to start chipping away at this problem I decided to go ahead and finally solder the Comptech ESM unit for the S/C. I will test to see if the car starts better in the morning to see if that helps my problem. As a side test, however, I just went out for a quick drive. I might be just thinking positively but I SWEAR the car has gained at least 10-15hp. I'm pretty excited and sad I didn't do it earlier. I'll drive it a bit hard tomorrow and see if I still feel the same.

Ever since I soldered in the ESM, I haven't had any problems with misfires or loss of power. Good luck, hope this does the trick for you.

it might just be the cold weather up there??? my car takes a second or two to start when the temp is in the 30's. as for the ESM, it's always better to have it soldered.

It is a little worse in the winter, but temperature isn't the only factor. The car had trouble starting, as usual, this morning so it wasn't the problem. I really think it's related to there not being enough fuel in the line to properly start the car. Can fuel actually "back up" down the fuel line if the car sits around for a few hours?
