Those who have removed black fold down part in back seat...

I have wanted to take out the black fold down barrier between the trunk and the back seat. I know there are people who have done this before but I'm curious if there are reasons not to do it. If you take it off, could there be rattles? Would you hear more road noise through the trunk (even if the leather console is up)? I was just trying to get everyone's thoughts and opinions on this. I know that it must help if you have a sub in the trunk and you want more boom!

there is one reason not to do it: to prevent objects in the trunk from entering the passenger compartment in the event of a frontal collision.

oh i just thought of another one: to prevent easy access for a thief to access the trunk and the emergency trunk release.

Not to mention you're going to severely weaken the structure -- it'll flex under hard cornering thus robbing you of cornering capabilities, and in case of a side collision, that part of the car could possibly just cave right in.

I'm just talking about the plastic part...not the actual metal part behind the rear seat. I know how to do it...that's not the issue. I just wanted to know if there were any issues or concerns after doing it. Thanks for this info guys!

This pass through door was removed and the hole was used for a port for the subs in the trunk........ pretty neat idea.
