so is it just me, or is the cl a bit more 'aware' of the shoes you wear when it comes to shifting? for example...when i go from flip flops to sneakers, my shifting isnt as smooth. any of u guys notice this too?
The CL isn't the easiest stick to drive smoothly. I'll leave town and not drive my car for a week and when I come back it takes me a few miles to smooth things out again. I don't remember any other cars (all 4 cyl) being like that. I think the torque and the quick clutch makes it a little touchy. Probably not a good learner's car unless you have an extra set of front tires handy.

the CL has got to one of the easiest. A car like say...an STi or M3...those would not be so good to learn on. I left my car for 9 weeks while shooting a tv show, I came back it was like a slice of heaven.
I go test drive an STi...took almost the whole test drive to get used to....so much raw power and torque...got back into my CL, it was like butter. Course then I drove an STi on an autoX course....no hick ups that time
im not saying that i'd trade my car in for something like this...my point was that the cl's clutch seems more sensitive than any other vehicle i've driven. the shoes i wore didnt really make that big a difference until now. i just didnt know if i was the only one that felt this way...

Dress shoes are a bitch too. My feet kill me after I drive with them.
even with auto i can tell a difference in shoes.
with sandals its like i have to press the pedal down to the floor to even get the car rolling, but with dress shoes my car feels like a beast.
so if im ever gonna race, i think i will bring my helmet, leather gear, and dress shoes.

I drive barefoot 50%> of the time. I hate driving with sandals so i just take them off.
you're right, shoes do make a huge difference, kinda stange, when i switch between my dress shoes, tennis shoes and any other shoes it feels so damn different. can be very annoying.

No difference for me, although, with boots on, now that's WHOA...
I absolulely cannot drive barefoot. I can hardly even move it. I have to move my seat up a couple inches just to feel comfortable. I cant drive in thick-soled shoes, ie. boots, dress shoes etc. I actually have only 2 shoes out of maybe 10 pairs that are my "Acura shoes". Both are athletic shoes with one being a pair of Adidas running shoes and the other being a pair of Jordans. The running shoes are the best because they are very flexible and have a thin sole. The Jordans are only used when I have to wear nice looking shoes, ie. going out to the movies etc. I've brought along a pair of shoes to change once I got to like church because the clutch is so touchy.
My Mustang isnt nearly as finicky to drive, but the same rule applies - thin & flexible sole works best for clutch feel.

Yes! Shoes make a big difference. Acura has done a good job of making the clutch pedal very easy to press, and very linear in engagement. The unfortunate result of this is that the clutch pedal has almost no "feel" to it. Thick-soled sturdy shoes make it seem like I just learned to drive a stick last week, but thin-soled shoes shoes allow me to take advantage of the small amount of effort and "feel" in the clutch, and shift very smoothly.
