I need some expert advice...

I am upgrading to a wet nitrous system and plan on pushing between an 85-100 shot. I am worried about my ignition timing because as you already know, our distributorless ignitions cannot be retarded. I have a few questions that I think you guys might be able to answer (especially since Scalbert and Allmotor are pushing tremendous HP #'s and probably had to overcome this issue already).

1. What are you guys doing for ignition retard on your cars?

2. Does the stock direct ignition w/knock control sensor retard the timing at all? If so, does it retard enough to push a 100 shot (4-6 degrees)?

3. Is there a way to retard the timing without buying an expensive MSD digital ignition?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

both of their cars are running e-manage.

the e-manage or unichip can retard your timing. both of these options are fairly expensive though.

you don't want the stock ecu to retard the timing because it will be so extreme you will lose tons of power.

i'll be spraying a 100 shot as soon as the 46/26 jets i ordered show up.

I wouldn't rely on the factory knock sensor for timing retard... not really sure if the darn thing even works! I think these motors retard more on IAT than the knock sensor.

I'd get the E-manage... next cheapest (and proven) alternative.

Do you really need anything for up to a 100 shot? I think you're tranny would blow before your engine.

How much is the E-Manage? Where can I buy it? How difficult is it to install/tune?

Are you switching to wet or are you going to spray 100 dry?

The install is a cinch if you have someone make a harness for you . Then you can simply upload someone else's map, or tune it yourself.

dry.

now that i have complete control over fuel and timing i'm sure i could spray a dry 150 shot. fastvtecl has been spraying a dry 150 shot for a while now w/ no engine management.

it would definately have to be progressive though. i have traction issues in 1st as it is.

That price would only include the e-mange unit. The PnP harness scalbert had made would make that price jump. I believe you can buy the whole package from scalbert, through Hope Systems, Inc. of course, for just under $800.

Looks like it's brand new.

How about getting it programmed to better suit my mods? Is that going to cost me or will Unichip hook me up?

Come on Matt, I know you've got connections
