personally a if i was to buy a good cheap sub I'd go with a Kicker Compitition(it's not a true Compitition sub it's just the name of the sub) your looking at about 100 bucks per 12. and these Kicker Compititions have been around for a long time. they can handle up to 300 watts of juice. I've had a couple friends who ran a few sets of these they are the baddest sounding subs but they sound nice for the money they gave for them BTW don't forget your box cost.(around here there's a few guys that will make carpeted boxes for about 100 bucks and they'll work with you if you need it to fit in certain area and I don't know how thick the wood is but I've NEVER seen one of their boxes fall apart they are built SOLID)you also need GOOD speaker wire. This is where some of your(what i call) "amatures system builders" cut corners(to save a little cash) and you wouldn't believe how much better it sounds like when they put in like heavy Stinger wire.
as far as amp Sony Xplod 150 x 2 is a pretty good deal it's 200 bucks and if you drop it down to 2 OHM you can pull about 200 watts x 2 out of it. which your kickers would sound pretty tight with
Now your saying how much for the whole package(this is without tax or installed)
200 bucks for speakers
100 bucks for the box
200 bucks for the amp
50 bucks for good speaker wire
550 bucks
the look on your face when you say DANG that hits:priceless

BTW I'd suggest Eclipse to anyone but their sh!t is EXPENSIVE(it's almost as bad as Comptech )

I think that sound sytems are hard to be suited just right for an individual. Budget is always the most important issue. First you say you only want to spend this much, but when you hear something else you ask yourself if you had spent just a lil bit more you would be even happier. It is a never ending battle. My first car (camaro) I had aftermarket 6x9 and front 4x5. Then I needed a sub, then i wanted more power to the sub and speakers. More money, each time, when i could have done it right the first time. Then in my Civic the same deal. Replaced all the components and then subs and (2) 400 watt amps. Not enough power, not enough sound...so then I added kick panels along the floor (additional mid and high) and then bumped up my amps to 500 each. So much money and finally satisfied. Well now with the Acura I am not going to f*** it up. The best and most of everything so i wont have to question myself.

The moral of the story is: even though you want to add some bass, but not too much doesnt mean sacrifice because of budget; either wait unitl you have the money or don't do it all. Buy the sub based on decibels(loudness) and frequency response (bass note achievability) and space required for the enclosure (for maximum benefit use manufacturers suggestion only). If you do not want it to be loud than choose a 250-400 RMS watt sub. Choose a 250-400 RMS amp. Make sure the sub will "hit" frequencies with the music you enjoy-a good dealer can explain. When they build the box or have you buy a pre-fabbed box make sure that it is at least manufacturers minimum air space requirement for that sub.

For budget oriented: Kicker, pioneer, alpine, MTX
For quality:JL W3, Orion Xtr, eclipse
For superior: JL w7, IDMAX, Orion HCCA,

There is so much variations pick several options you are considering and post again..then we can help you further! Good luck!

Sure i can ship it - but i'm sure u wanna know the specs on those and since i'm at work i cant get those to u right now but i can once i get home. Then u can let me if ur interested or not

I also have an eclipse deck, which WATER-S 2nds is the BEST, but wont look good in our cars cos its pretty small.

I'll try to get some pics also if i can

"Make sure the sub will "hit" frequencies with the music you enjoy"

Hitting frequencies: I am refering to the subs ability to replicate the bass note without distortion at a certain decibel level. For example I like Hip-Hop and often times they are low (20 HZ-45 HZ) frequencies in the bass notes. Well my (2) 10" Orion Xtr are loud and they hit only down to about 40 HZ at high volumes, so sometimes I miss out on full extension of bass notes in some songs.

Well I am going to try to put this a lil better terms: You want bass, you currently dont have any...You will certainly have a noticable difference with this change. Now imagine you listen to your new system and then jump in a buddy's car. You are upset because his system "hits" harder and is louder on the same song you just listened to. Now you curse profanities and wonder why yours is smaller..i mean not as big...i mean not as loud as your friends.
