To those with CT Headers

To those with CT Headers installed. Do you hear any whistling or turbulent airflow noises? I just got mine installed today, and when I rev the engine, you hear this sort of whistling or rattling noise from turbulent air flow? My mechanic told me that it was due to the header design, where both headers empty into the same downpipe chamber, whereas the stock ones empty into 2 different chambers, and then merge into one pipe. He said that this noise is common with all aftermarket headers. My mechanic checked for exhaust leaks, but found none. Any insights?

well...

I don't have any whisteling noises on my headers. The only problem I had applied to a specific batch of headers from Comptech in which the j-pipe was too stiff, and caused a resonance at about 1500~1800 rpm. Anything above, or below that didn't exhibit the problem. Don't know if this helps out or not.

There's no sound at idle. Sounds exactly like stock. However, when I rev it, there seems to be this air-sucking noise or turbulent air-flow noise. When you rev your car with headers on, is there a difference in sound between stock and when headers were installed?

I definitely noticed a deeper tone in the exhaust after the headers were installed --> sounds wonderful. I'm not sure about the whistling sound you are describing. I have a CAI that whistles and that may be masking the sound of the headers.

They may not have torqued the headers to spec...the design of the headers are for smoother airflow....that may be the whistling...but the turbulent airflow sound isn't right...altho the headers do add a different exhuast note when installed.
I can't hear what you are talking about...my short ram masks everything.

At idle, it sounds just like stock. When I rev the engine, there seems to be a rattling sound. I'm pretty sure it's not an exhaust leak cause I used new gaskets all around, and my mechanic checked for any leaks, but couldn't find any. What i'm thinking is that it may be the heat shield on the cat or maybe the downpipe rubbing against something. Has anyone heard anything about this problem on CT headers?? Anyone in Toronto have CT headers installed? I want to see how they sound like on another car.

ratteling, no, that's not right. It might be the heat shield, like you said.

Well if you still have the heat shield installed, then something is definetly not right. There should be no heat shield with the Comptech headers (factory ones won't fit over them, so if they're there then that would definetly cause some interesting sounds )

I'm talking about the heat shield over the Cat. Anyone heard of such a problem?
