for those with the burlwood shift knob.....?
for those with the burlwood shift knob.....?
i just got the burlwood shift knob to match my wood trim. the only this is i can't seem to get it down all the way. there are few threads left at the bottom of the bar holding the knob. i tried to turn it somemore but it's really tight already and i'm afraid i might loosen something at the bottom. it looks fine now...but i'd rather not see the threads at the bottom of the knob. my question is...does this thing go down all the way just like the stock knob. the burlwood knob i got is the acura one!
Aren't there different ones for the CL-S? Maybe you got the one for the TL by mistake??
I just ordered the burlwood one for my TL, I hope it doesn't have the problem you have described.

sent an email to honacuraworld...just got a reply:
"For some reason that is just the way they fit. When you look at it from the
side, you will see two threads showing. Please let me know if I can be of
further help."
Cheers,
Tim
I guess that answers my question. i'll need to use a little creativity to cover those remaining 2 threads!

Have you tried turning the silver collar BENEATH the bottom of the burl knob. When I first got mine it was slightly loose and I couldn't turn the knob a bit. But I tried that silver collar and it tightened up permanantly.

This is a possibility. Most tapped holes are done with a starter tap, tapered with incomplete threads in the beginning. I'll bet that a bottom tap would get you a couple more turns. Go to a hardware store with your stock knob and find the right size tap. Should be easy.
