Those with aftermarket headers ... (poll)
Those of you who have installed aftermarket headers, regardless what brand, if you could do a fresh install on the headers again would you use the supplied gaskets (exhaust manifolds) or would you get brand new OEM gaskets? Feel free to post some past experiences, good or bad with either option. A little info on the brand of headers would be nice.

OBX gaskets are FINE, dont beleive the hype about these gaskets, the OEM gaskets look crappy in comparison to the OBX ones anyhow. im not sure if comptech supplies gaskets, but if they do, im sure they are fine as well, this isnt rocket science here, its simply a gasket.....dont sweat it, just use the supplied gaskets either way, there is no need to flush more money down the drain for OEM gaskets.

The car only had 2000 miles on it when I had the headers installed. The existing gaskets were fine. I think they are the existing gaskets. I had the Acura dealer do the install. Do the CompTech headers come with their gaskets?

I instructed the dealer to use new OEM gaskets for the Comptech headers. They tightened the headers down to the point of rounding the edges on the manifold/header nuts (I was a bit concerned at the time.). However, I've never gotten a leak.
Do you need them (new ones)? Depends...
A good mechanic could probably just look at the current gaskets and make a decision either way. My car had very low miles on it when the headers were installed. I just figured that it was cheap insurance.
IMO, a look at the supplied gaskets couldn’t hurt. (Check the quality of the gaskets and their fit before installation.)
YMMV

Why wouldn't you use new gaskets? Jesus they're like what, $25. People amaze me. They spend hundreds of dollars on performance parts and then balk about a few $$.
The best is the taillights. The TL guys that swapped out for the 02 tails spent hours debating the cost benefit of the wiring harness. I think I paid $11 for them.

Y'all and these fucking gaskets. Does anyone think around here? Why the fuck would you not use a new gasket? Especailly on the manifold!!! The only gaskets that people have questioned, are the ones that go between the A pipe and the headers and the cat(do-nut). Nothing is wrong with using the OBX gaskets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gaskets are good for one time only. Once you compress it, that is it. You can reuse it, but it will not garuntee a good seal. Do not reuse the do-nut gaskets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t understand why people are selecting the answer “Supplied Comptech gaskets” ???
Comptech doesn’t supply gaskets with the Headers unless you’re talking about the three small ring gaskets that are used on the downpipe.

well since people with the Obx are telling me to get the Comptechs I guess its for a reason....anyways when i get them put on I'll definetly get new stock gaskets since it wont hurt. My guess $15-$20 for both gaskets shipped to ur doorstep just to insure no leaks. Even if the dealer puts them on that doesn't guarantee that it won't leak and all the dealer has to say is"hey I used the gasket supplied we are not resposible for the gasket" so $15 for insurance is not to much to pay
