Thinking of getting an S2000 - how to store my CL-S?

I'm possibly thinking of getting an S2000 this coming winter and was curious how to store my CL-S once the spring comes for the 3 seasons I'd drive the S2000? I have a 2 stall garage and it's just me in my place. Do I need to take the wheel's off the CL-S to prevent bald spots? Is there a list somewhere that outlines what I should do or has anyone else gone down this road before?

Why not just drive it once in awhile so you dont have to worry about all this. i would understand not driving a sports car in winter but you can drive the cl in summer atleast once in awhile.

haha good call, I didn't even think of that! I'm not sure I'm gonna do this anyways but I've always wanted an S2000 or sports car and since I'm not married yet, thought this might be a good time to give it a try .

I store my CL from October till spring/summer, the biggest tip i can give you is get some stabil, walmart sells it as does every auto parts store, it helps keep your fuel system treated and gas fresh. Car will fire up with no hesitation since the gas is still fresh. Also look into a battery tender to keep the battery charged, and you don't really need to jack up the car or take the wheels off, just drive it once a week or once every few weeks, just to keep the tires round. Even if you just pull it out in the driveway and back in.

Sounds VERY manageable, which is great news!

+1 for stabil and a battery tender.

I remember seeing something years ago about storing an old car. They mentioned leaving the doors and trunk popped (not open, just not fulled closed and locked) so the weatherstripping doesnt get hard and flat. Not sure how useful that is though.

Dont store it with only 1/4 tank of gas. Make sure its a full tank, you're less likely to get water in the tank.

Do her a favor though and drive it once a week. Try to make sure its at least 10 miles so it can warm up fully.

Putting the car on jack stands for a long period of time can actually do more harm then good.

In my area, you would need to drive it at at least 2x a month. Brake rotors can pick up surface rust from the humidity and if you let it go too long, you'll have to do a brake job. If you are driving it a couple times a month, you shouldn't have to worry about the battery. 100% on the fuel stabilizer, the additives in gas don't like to sit around. MTBE turned gummy after a few months and I would imagine ethanol isn't much better if it isn't worse.

If your worried about the tires flat spotting, you can pump them up to the tire's max inflation level, that's what the manufacturers do when they are shipping the vehicles to the dealers.
