What year is your car? This will only fit on the 99 TL.

I actually e mail them two days ago here is the e-mail they sent me- Steve,

Thank you for your continued interest in ThermoBlok spacers. We have completed the design of some different pieces that will work for the later Acura TL and CL. We are now in the process of getting some prototype pieces machined for installation and testing.

Best regards,

i have an '03 Type-S. i kow it says it will only fit the 99 but whats so different between the engine in the '99 and the '01-'03 (non S). if anything, im pretty sure the manifold one would work with the type s as wel.

It might be worth it for $80 if it can add 4-5 WHP!

I am going to order mine this week. Not sure when I'll be able to install it.

It has the potential to increase power especially if you are driving in a lot of slow traffic. Doesn't make power so much as it prevents power loss from the intake heating up. Here is another thread on it.

You guys have got to be kidding, you are not honestly thinking this is worth the pastic it's made out of do you?

How can you believe that the intake manifold imposses it's heat onto the incoming air on it's way to the heads, and into the cylinders? The rate of speed that the air is traveling on it's way in does not provide time to heat it up in the manifold. If the air temp changes by more than +1-2 degrees during that transfer, I would be surprised. The air spends as much time in the manifold as it does in the cylinder awaiting detonation.

If you want to reduce the temp of the air coming into the engine, a CAI is all that is needed. The only way beyond that would be very cold cooling elements in the intake pipe that the air flows over on it's way in. THe cooling elements would have to be plentiful and take up at least 4-5" in length of the intake. You could do it like NoS, and have a freon tank feeding a coil element in the intake, that flows through and is collected ina vacumed collection tank (helping force the freon flow). You could have it on a switch to engage it. I know that is a bit far fetched, and would take more thought then would I just blerted out, but that has much more potentional then this crap spacer thing.

Looks good to me. I would expect more coils though? Perhaps a winding coil element that would be inserted into the intake pipe?

Although I agree that it is probably not worth messing with, I disagree with the heating of the manifold. The IAT, which is located in the manifold, will see temperatures as high as 150F. This is due to the heating from the manifold even when used with the best CAI.

Now, I am sure that not all of the air ingested is not at this temperature. But the IAT is slow to respond so even when going from stop and go traffic to WOT (or sitting at the staging lanes, etc.) the reading will take some time to drop. This means there will be less timing thrown at the engine thus realizing slightly reduced power.

This is merely meant to delay the onset of heat soak. How effective it is would need to be explored further and as I stated, probably not worth it. But the concept is sound, the application may not be.

Would relocating the IAT to the TB be more accurate? Perhaps modifing a TB spacer to install the IAT? Or would that be more trouble then it's worth? Or even worse performance?

OPn one hand, it's noce to have all this computer controlled fuel injection, on the other, they make it damn difficult to improve performance and get the CPU to play nice.

Probably more trouble...

It isn't just the sensor, it is the filtering in the ECU to smooth the signal which reduces it's response time.
