IS there really a Super Charger in the works?

Seems like we've been waiting forever. And what type of HP will it produce?

Yes they are working on one but realize that this is a complex job that requires not only getting a supercharger under the hood but also requires that the system work without harming the car or the emissions.Add to this the additional fun of getting it all certified to be emissions legal.Jens

Not to mention...if it replaces the intake manifold...the problem of retaining our IMRC and dual throttle body, right!?!

out of the box, it isn't that great, the stock boost out of the box is 4.5 psi. But if you turn up the boost to about 8-10 psi it feels a lot better.

Since the car would be supercharged I highly doubt that an IMRC setup intake manifold would be required.Since the intake in pressurized having a fancy intake like what is tock on the CL/S would not be worth much.Jens

Hmmm...just hate to take off things from the factory..
Maybe I can sell the manifold and IMRC setup to one of the CL-P guys or Accord guys...

Then again, this is Comptech you are talking about. They've never gone out of their way to save us TL owners any dough even though are parts are interchangeable with Accords. I would expect they would charge a premium for the SC, especially since they will likely be the only manufacturer. I would guess at least $5000 (but $4678 from Snook).

The one for the S2000 is close to 5K, so I'm guessing it'll be up there for the CL. But who knows...

Last word was that they were going to be using a centifugal unit.

Not a roots style.

So it wouldn't mount to the manifold, it would be well before the TB. My guess and was somewhat confirmed was that the battery would be relocated and the blower sitting in its place. The drive shaft would then be run across the front of the engine similar to what was done for the Stillen kit for the Maxima.

With a side outlet Vortec blower and a U-Bend pipe the TB (or VSA throttle for the Type-S) is right there. So the IMRC would be retained, as for there being any additional benefit with it the IMRC any longer, that will have to be seen.

Hmmmm they better leave room for a custom intercooler. You know someone will want more boost with a smaller pulley, and higher boost is unsafe without some kind of cooling. Especially with the Type-S's high Static CR.

Right now, though. I don't wanna gripe or complain. I just want that damn blower to be out already.

Are you sure they are making a centrifigul one vs the vortec one? I guess since im a CLP owner i woudl hope for the vortec one sicneu it replaces the intake manifold and i ahve been todl that the intake manifold is the main diff between the CLS and CLP. ANyohe know if thats true?

The Eaton would almost certainly require replacement of the intake manifold, not the Vortec. The Eaton roots style is a positive displacement blower that provides imediate boost at any RPM but becomes less efficient as the revs climb.

The Vortec centrifugal unit sits in line before the TB. It has a fairly linear increase in boost as the revs climb. This is what they used on the S2000 system.

Here are links to the two Brands and types. There is plenty of reading that should cover most of what you would be interested in.

If we did buy the supercharger for our cars..what would we need to do to make sure our tranny wont go on us? I think more then just a torque convertor.

So not only do we get a supercharger and an icebox for $x,xxx, but we might also get a different manifold thereby removing the hassle of constantly checking to see if the IMRC actuator is working! Sounds like a good deal to me!
