Temp sensor in cabin?

Who knows what this is?

On the dash all the near the windshield are some vents. Directly in the center is a plastic square/rectangle. Apparantly, mine is loose and I can pull it up (looks like it was just glued down and the glue wore out). Anyways, what is the device underneath that cap? Could it be a temp sensor for the inside? What does this thing do? Any ideas to put this cap back down or just glue it?

Thanks.....BTW, this is an '03 CL-S 6MT.

actually its the sunlight sensor for the temp control (AC). the actual interior temp sensor the located near your right knee when you sit. it has a little grate on it.

What is a sunlight sensor? What would both these sensors be used for?

Sunlight sensor compensates for the heat of the sun by turning up the AC a little more. If the sun isn't beaming in, then the system assumes that it's not as hot and simply uses the temperature sensors. Someone tell me if I'm wrong.
