Temp problem
Temp problem
Hello all,
I have a strange problem I would like to toss out to the experts. earlier this year I took my car to go snow skiing. It was cold and snowy the three days we were there. the last day, I noticed when I went to change the temp inside the car it didn't seem to change. Now that I have had more time to see what is going on (not my daily driver), unless I turn it up above 84* or below 64*, the temperature will not change. Once it gets hot or cold, whichever is needed and you readjust (ex. turn up to 85* then try and turn it down to 70*) no change in temp. I have to go down around 65 to get it to change. Any thought on this issue? Thanks...

Probably a stuck mixer valve.
Look under the hood, towards the firewall in front of the passenger. There is a coolant hose leading to the heater core. On that hose, there is a valve that is controlled by a cable that moves as you adjust the temp. If you have trouble finding it, have someone move the temp gauge from 60-90-60. Just grease up that cable to help it move more freely and that should help.
