Tell me whats wrong >=/

For the past few days I've noticed my car make odd tapping noises that seem to be coming from the back, possibly trunk area. At first I thought it was just the seat belts hitting something so I buckled them all but it still makes that damn noise. Then I tried opening the glove box, arm rest, and "coin holder" but alas still the noise cannot be tracked. It is very faded but extremly annoying if you're driving without tunes. Any ideas?

Could be the back dash at the third brake light. I know when I don't have my radio on I hear it for every little movement the car makes.

Yes, could be back dash rattling, did you get your windows tinted or anything like that? If so they may not have reseated everything correctly. If not, maybe a pillar issue. Overall, the car is very quiet which makes small noises and rattles stand out.

Maybe the trunk tension bars (underside of rear deck). Try some cloth, foam or rubber padding between the bars where they cross over.

Check the trunk for loose stuff...

I had my spare lug nuts and lugnut lock rolling around in the side compartment for a couple of days and it drove me crazy...

third brake light - hits the glass

trunk torsion bars - my center bracket actually broke off, and the bars were clanking around in the trunk

Well it appears that the noise actually comes from the sunroof because when i slide the cover it gets louder and even louder when i tilt. is this a common problem with an easy fix or do i need to bring it to the stealership? =/

my wind visor that pops up when you open the sunroof rattles often. pluck it like you were playing a guitar string against the top edge of the wind visor and you can get it to rattle I think it is in the middle front of the wind visor that raises when the sunroof is opened. On the front trim of the sunroof(car frame part) there is a resting post for the center section of the wind visor. This where my noise comes from. should be an easy fix with some foam tape

Sunroof rattle is a well known problem. There's even a TSB on it. Don't know if you're still under warranty, but the dealer fixed mine free.

The TSB is for tape around the trim of the sun roof. I think his visor is also vibrating. Mine does and there is not TSB for that

lol I had my mom riding along with me in the car the other day and I kept hearing these fucking rattles from the front driver's side door and the back of the car, probably the same noise you are hearing. I usually drive with the cd player on so I never noticed them. Tomorrow I am going to tear some shit apart to find out the sources of these rattles because now that I know they are there I am irritated.

TallyCL-S,
your front left door rattle may be the left kick panel under the steering wheel obvilusly on the driver side under dash. try to duplicate it by tapping on it.

I wanna bring it to Acura but the damn noise comes and goes (i will either hear it the entire drive or not hear it at all) and I know that once the techs test drive it the noise will just magically vanish through that duration

oh and i checked the bars in the trunk and they seem to be holding up perfectly

I know the rear side panels rattle sometimes...and I hear the rear deck rattling when the music is turned town in my car.

-Solution-

*Crank up the music really loud so the rattles go away

I ended up finding the culprit. It was a metal piece under the dash. I have no idea how long it had been rattling because I usually have the stereo up or the windows down. I let my gf listen to the sound while i tapped it and she told me I was fucking nuts . Either way, I zip tied that bitch to a nearby bracket and no more sounds, thank god because that sh!t was annoying. Women just don't understand

Well thanks for the suggestions. So far Acura did apply some film around the sunroof to prevent it from rattling. However, there is still an annoying tapping noise from the back. I sat in the back while my friend drove around the block and I am 90% positive that the bastard noise is coming from the rear windshield. I tried replicating the noise by pushing on the brake light towards the rear and by playing around with the brake light housing in the trunk (also fiddled with every bar and wire that seemed to be visible) but both seem to be solid and noise free. Is it possible that my rear windshield actually isnt sitting properly? or maybe its even the defroster or antena?? Acura says they could try to fix it but I'd have to leave it there for the day and I hate the thought of greasy mechanics driving my car

The bars in my trunk are what keeps rattling. Finally found out after taking my whole rear seats, rear deck, and third brake light out. I put some felt all around the third brake light with a sticky back I bought from Wal-Mart (thanks to a fellow member for the suggestion), put it all back together and it was better, but still had a rattle coming from the back. Now I just finished installing a Basslink (which is wonderful btw, thanks fuzzy), and found out the tension bars for the trunk were clanking together. Am going to try and put some of that felt around them and see if that works, then I can put my car back together.

check where the headliner ends at the top of the rear window, that's where mine was creaking and it was a bitch to locate, I chased it around forever before pinpointing it.

Yeah, my headliner had popped out of place somehow. I had someone drive and I sat in the back seat. I immidiately heard where the rattling was coming from and pushed up on the headliner, back into place, and no more rattling coming from it since.
