tech ???helms owners,Jens,wayne???

i.ve noticed that when i travel this bumpy road which i do each day to work...when its at its worst the bumps almost reminds me of the red and white areas on a race track on curves like more a hard vibration ...it feels like ive run out of gas or lost electrical power today i noticed twice my rpm's dropped down to 100 or soo just about to stall.I do have CAI w bypass im not sure if its that or could i have a spark or fuel injector problem?>?

It sounds to me like your VSA is cutting off power due to lack of traction! Did you notice if the light came on? Try turning it OFF, then go over the bumps again and see if it does it!

1. Can you turn off the VSA and try the streach again, then see my story -- it may be different, but I really got power cut big time when I hit some pretty big rocks with the front tires (2" to 3" rocks that crumble, but really kick the front end up, then crush into slippery stuff (like sand).

Here goes:

I was up in Latigo canyon -- a steep curvy road up in the Malibu hills. I had a full tank of gas, and I was hauling butt up the hills and when ever I hit a really nasty big sandstone/granite rock (about 3" high -- down to 2" with gravel and rock dust), I would be hauling in 1st or 2nd at high revs and full power. When I hit one of these rocks in a steep uphill hairpin or in a steep uphill, I would notice the engine just cut power like crazy. My wife even asked what was going on. It happened too fast, and the drop (mountain drop) is really scary, so it happened only when we really got jostled very hard (there are some very big and loose rocks up there) and I had my foot in it. I didn't notice the VSA light coming on, but there is a "blurb" in the HELM about how it will kill the throttle if it really needs to. (It is also hard to look for a VSA light when your passenger can't even keep their head in one place.)

There is more going on than just clamping a brake caliper down and retarding timing. There seems to be a mechanism that I need to look over some more that really pulls the power off.

I heard another member mention the "bouncing" messing up the VSA.

I am going to try to go up the same canyon again in a month or two -- this time without the VSA on. I have a feeling that if the system thinks that things are way too slippery, it can't just use the retard to power back the engine with the brake being applied. I believe that there is actual actuator that shuts down the throttle opening (in effect).

Note -- I just started reading this part, so don't be too harsh if I missed some of the more relevant parts of the VSA "throttle-back" system.

Sounds like you may have a loose connection in the wiring harness. Try to get your dealer to go for a ride and demonstrate it to him.
