TCS and Check Engine Light - Always Means Tranny problem?
TCS and Check Engine Light - Always Means Tranny problem?
In the last couple of weeks i've had the Check engine and TCS light come on at the same time. (CL-P)
I've scanned the codes both times and they are not tranny related
P0171
P0170
Most likely O2 Sensor.
Once I clear the two codes both lights go out.
I am just thrown off by the TCS light if the codes for for Lean Bank 1 ??
Thanks

if tranny is shifting weird it's tranny. if nothing out of the ordinary it's something else..90%
i'd change the trans fluid 3x3 method, just to be safe and the ATF filter under the intake... then I'd look at those codes...

My last tranny change was at 122,000 miles
im at 144,400 now.
I had to pay $1400 out of pocket, acura picked up the rest. I have a 3/36 warranty on it. So if its going to go I want it to go NOW. LOL Or at least b4 the 3/36 is up.

2 years ago, a few weeks after my transmission was replaced, i had the habit of getting gas at a no name gas station for a few months. (cheaper) I know it was a mistake I never made again because I didn't fill up premium, I would get mid-grade. One day I filled up, and the car turned on with both TCS and the engine light on
(barely turned on) I called up my brother and he was like same thing happened to a buddy of his and basically had to have repair work (I remember him mentioning his engine pinging) Ever since that fill up I started back on Premium at shell and did a fuel injector cleaning and the TCS and check engine light went away.
Maybe I was lucky but it hasn't been back since.
