Back when the '89 SHO came out it had the most HP per liter of any car other then the Vette. 220HP from 3.0L back in '89 was pretty crazy. They also respond well to FI, putting out well over 400HP with nothing more then a supercharger and fairly low boost. But it looks nothing like a CL.

The CL doesn't look like a Tore-ass at all.

The Yamaha engine is a sweet sweet thing. They respond really well to turbo's. Toolman on the SHOFourm.com was running over 530HP a while back (even more now) with stock heads, block, and intake. Videos of him running +450HP Vettes was pretty entertaining. Lots of nice interior options. 12-way seats both driver and passenger, auto-climate and headlights, and nice leather. Exterior isn't the most exciting but it sure catches those Mustang GT drivers off guard when you blast them on the highway. They suffer from the same issues the CL does with aftermarket. Very few vendors made parts for them. SHOShop did til their closed up (or went under or whatever), Midwest SHO was a great operation, as are a couple of the other small dealers. But as I said, they look noting alike. I can see a little bit of similarities in the Gen 3 SHO (the picture above) in the exhaust and maybe a bit of the rear end but other then that there isn't a lot. The Gen I & II were 220HP V6s (3.0L manual or 3.2L auto) and the Gen III (shown in the picture) went to a 235HP V8 (3.4L auto).

SHO Taurus... not a bad concept besides the fact that it is non sporty sedan... did not last too long but that makes them rare and more sought after... its no SVT though... If it had to be a post 90s Ford it would be the 84 Turbo GT4... 145 HP out of a four cylinder at that time is not a bad ratio either... A parts guy I used to work with had one... Had some work done and that thing would fly!
It kinda pisses me off that people look at our cars and dont think much... Simple and elegant looking, but a true street sleeper (type s only LOL)... It's not a common car at all... I see more BMW, Mercedes, and Porsches every day than I see CLs a week! Every time I look at a G35 and drool or think just a couple grand more would have me a newer TL... I just remind myself that these are unique cars... From the styling to the simple luxuries to the power and pure fun of driving them... There are not many mid size luxury coupes that I would even consider besides the CL. Im sure everyone here agrees or at least feel somewhat that way, otherwise you wouldnt own one! rant rant rant rant... rabble rabble rant rant. im done

When I sent my brother pictures of my CL when I first got it he told me that it looked like our parents old Mercury Sable but with 2 doors instead of 4. In fact I made this picture just to shut him up:
It didn't. He still thought it looked similar in shape and plus they were both silver.
I just think that people who aren't into cars are kind of like people that are color blind; they think they see one thing when most people see something competely different. It's like the kind of people that don't see a difference between a 6 cylinder Mustang and a Mustang GT. So sad.

CLS 6MT Navi
Our cars look like Accord coupes, Solaras and maybe even a Neon, but a Taurus?
I read that those SHOs were problem cars.
I see Ford is bringing back the Taurus name for the new 1800 car. Whooppee.
That oval window Taurus was so ugly IMO. Even the dash was oval, it was a theme.

Heh. I'd love to see a rod shifter replacement for the CL like they offer for the SHO. Really improves the shifting. I'd also like to see FI gains on the CL like the SHO gets.

Oh man, you gotta checkout this clip from his show. He did a great segment on his SHO.

Oh, +1 for the Solara comment... I think that one most closely resembles the CL overall...
